Higuain: 'I have a contract, let's see'

Juventus forward Gonzalo Higuain has admitted he doesn’t want a return to Argentina and stressed he has ‘one year left’ of his contract in Turin.

Higuain faces an uncertain future at the Allianz Stadium but won’t make any decisions before he meets the new Bianconeri coach Andrea Pirlo.

“I’m fine now, I’ll rest and think. On the 24th I return to training and I still have one year left on my contract in Italy,” Higuain told Fox Sports. “I have to introduce myself and see what happens with the new coach.

Juve in for Suarez and Griezmann?

Juventus are being linked with Barcelona duo Antoine Griezmann and Luis Suarez, who could leave Catalonia this summer.

Il Corriere dello Sport claims the Bianconeri are hoping to find a solution for Gonzalo Higuain and free themselves from his wages, before reinvesting in the upcoming transfer market.

The Roman based newspaper reveals sporting director Fabio Paratici, should he successfully untie the financial knot and offload the Argentine, could follow up his interest in Suarez and even make a move for France international Griezmann.

Higuain and Khedira won't quit Juve

Juventus are eager to bring the average age and total salary bill down, but Sami Khedira and Gonzalo Higuain are not going to make that easy.

Blaise Matuidi terminated his contract early by mutual consent so he could sign for Inter Miami in MLS.

The Bianconeri stated with President Andrea Agnelli after their Champions League elimination that the plan was to lower the average age of their squad.

'Juve still want Higuain'

Gonzalo Higuain’s father, Jorge, has claimed Juventus ‘still want him’ at the Allianz Stadium and thinks the striker will see out his current contract with the Bianconeri.

The Argentine has been linked with a move back to River Plate in his homeland but Higuain’s father quashed reports of a move already this summer.

“It’s almost impossible that Higuain will play for River Plate next year,” Jorge told Planeta 947. “That Juventus no longer wants him is false.

Immobile: 'Lazio forever'

Lazio forward Ciro Immobile has revealed he ‘intends to commit’ to the Aquile with a new contract until June 2025.

The Capocannoniere, who matched Gonzalo Higuain’s record of 36 goals in a single Serie A season, has been linked with a move to his hometown club Napoli in recent weeks.

But Immobile has vowed to stay with the Biancocelesti, despite his ‘affection’ for the Partenopei.

Dybala unlikely to start against Lyon

Paulo Dybala is unlikely to be fit enough to start tomorrow’s Champions League decider with Lyon, so Juventus look to Gonzalo Higuain and Juan Cuadrado.

The Round of 16 clash kicks off in Turin on Friday at 20.00 UK time (19.00 GMT).

The first leg ended 1-0 for Olympique Lyonnais in France back in February, so the Bianconeri must win by two clear goals to turn this around.

Dybala is the big doubt, as he sustained a muscular injury against Sampdoria 11 days ago and did not take part in today’s full training session either.

Immobile poised to make history

Ciro Immobile could make history this evening, as the Lazio striker can become Capocannoniere, win the Golden Boot and break the all-time Serie A season scoring record.

The Biancocelesti visit Napoli at the Stadio San Paolo, which is also where the record of 36 goals was set by Gonzalo Higuain with his hat-trick against Frosinone in May 2016.

Immobile goes into the match with 35 goals under his belt for this season, already four clear of Juventus striker Cristiano Ronaldo on 31.

Immobile closing on Higuain all-time record

Lazio striker Ciro Immobile is hoping to break the all-time record for Serie A goals in a single season, 36 set by Gonzalo Higuain for Napoli in 2015-16.

The Italy international is already on 34 goals going into tonight’s match against Brescia and has two rounds to make history.

So far, Immobile has achieved the tally of 34 goals in just 35 Serie A appearances, averaging a goal every 88 minutes.

Higuain had actually done better, scoring 36 goals in 35 top flight matches for Napoli in the 2015-16 season.
