Italians celebrate trophy with PSG

Italy internationals Alessandro Florenzi, Marco Verratti and Moise Kean are celebrating after winning the French Supercup with Paris Saint-Germain.

While Verratti has a packed trophy cabinet from his time at the club, this was the first taste of silverware for former Roma full-back Florenzi.

PSG’s social media accounts used that fact to mock rivals Olympique Marseille, who were beaten 2-1 in the Final last night.

Clause can help El Shaarawy return to Roma

A clause in Stephan El Shaarawy’s contract with Shanghai Shenhua could help the winger secure a return to Roma.

The 28-year-old moved from the Giallorossi to Shanghai for €16m in July 2019 but has struggled to adapt to Chinese football.

And Sky Sport Italia reports Roma are working to bring the winger back to the Olimpico this winter, even if El Shaarawy is tied to Shenhua until June 2022.

Inter meet with Bastoni

Inter are reportedly meeting with Alessandro Bastoni’s representatives, working on a deal until June 2025.

Tuttomercatoweb claims the Nerazzurri are meeting with the defender’s entourage today to discuss the future and negotiate a new deal for the young Italy international.

Bastoni has been in talks with the Beneamata for quite some time and the talks are advancing, and the outlet claims the club is preparing a bumper new deal until the summer of 2025.

Ancelotti: ‘Kean could stay at PSG, Bernard…’

Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti confirms Moise Kean could join PSG on a permanent deal and insists he doesn't want to sell Roma target Bernard.

Kean joined PSG on loan from Everton in October 2020 and has scored 12 goals in 21 appearances in all competitions so far this season.

Back in November, Leonardo said it would have been difficult for PSG to sign the Italy international permanently, but Ancelotti has now opened the door to Kean’s exit.

Mancini: ‘Can’t compare Chiesa and his father’

Italy CT Roberto Mancini says there is only one thing that makes Federico Chiesa and his father Enrico similar and suggests Mattia Zaccagni and Matteo Lovato should join a top team ‘when the right moment comes.’

Chiesa, who joined Juventus from Fiorentina for €60m last summer scored a brace in the Old Lady’s 3-1 win over Milan on Wednesday, but Mancini believes the Bianconeri winger can’t be compared with his father Enrico, a former Fiorentina, Parma and Sampdoria star.

Juventus return for Quagliarella?

Juventus are reportedly interested in Sampdoria veteran Fabio Quagliarella, but it's not sure if the 38-year-old wants a return to Turin.

The 38-year-old finds himself at a crossroads, as La Gazzetta dello Sport reveals interest from the Old Lady coach Andrea Pirlo.

Quagliarella was expected to renew with Sampdoria but might get an opportunity to return to Juventus for the last chapter of his career.

Goalkeepers vote Buffon the GOAT

Gianluigi Buffon has been voted the best goalkeeper of all time by a jury of his peers, including Manuel Neuer, Julio Cesar and Peter Schmeichel.

La Gazzetta dello Sport contacted 18 different shot-stoppers representing 18 different countries to ask them about the GOAT of Goalkeepers.

The winner of the vote, although many abstained from naming a single best of all time or suggested more than one name, was Italy international Buffon with seven votes.

He was narrowly followed by Lev Yashin on five, then Dino Zoff with two.

The good, the bad and a wish for 2021

Giancarlo Rinaldi revisits the good and bad things we witnessed in Italian football in 2020 and reveals his hopes for the New Year.

Hopefully we will never have another year like 2020. It has thrown all kinds of adversity at us over its eventful 12 months and yet - somehow or another - even in the midst of a global pandemic the football show went on in a series of odd instalments.

It is not easy to draw any conclusions over such a disjointed time for Calcio but here we go anyway with a slapdash summary of the good and bad things we witnessed in Italian football.

Paolo Rossi will rest in World Cup urn

Italy legend Paolo Rossi will forever be remembered with the World Cup in his hands and now he’ll rest forever inside an urn shaped like the World Cup.

The striker died from a long illness at the age of 64 on December 9.

Following the funeral in his adopted town of Vicenza, there was today another ceremony in his home of Prato.

Wife Federica and their two daughters were in attendance, along with the son he had from his first marriage and his brother Rossano.

Jorginho agent 'won't rule out return to Italy'

Jorginho’s agent assures he is ‘very happy at Chelsea, but wouldn’t rule out a return to Italy in future.’

The midfielder was born in Brazil, but spent his entire career in Italy and chose to represent the Azzurri at international level.

“Jorge is a Chelsea player and he is very happy there, but I wouldn’t rule out a return to Italy in future,” agent Joao Santos told Radio Kiss Kiss.

He is regularly linked with a move to Juventus, but also a potential return to Napoli.
