Serie B: Ascoli ask to postpone Pisa match

The match in Serie B Week 7 between Pisa and Ascoli risks being postponed due to various cases of coronavirus at the Bianconeri.

The request for postponement will, according to Sky Sport Italia, come directly from Ascoli, given the high number of positive players between the first team and the reserves.

Ascoli will forward the request to the Lega Serie B in the next few hours, hoping to postpone the match originally scheduled at 13.00 UK time on Saturday.

Flamini to join Brescia?

Former Arsenal and Milan midfielder Mathieu Flamini could join Serie B side Brescia as a free agent, reports in Italy claim.

According to Monza-news.it, the experienced midfielder has offered his services to the Rondinelle and Monza.

Silvio Berlusconi’s club, however, have reportedly rejected the chance to sign the 36-year-old while Brescia are said to be considering to secure his services.

Flamini played his last competitive game more than one year ago: a 2-1 away defeat of his ex-side Getafe at Real Sociedad.

Serie B: Menez sees red for Reggina

Jeremy Menez saw red as SPAL beat Reggina, Venezia eventually got the better of Empoli and Frosinone saw off Cremonese.

The Venezia game had been suspended due to fog on Saturday an hour into the game, so resumed for the final 30 minutes on Sunday and the result stayed did not change.

Serie A COVID protocol simplified

The Italian Football Federation has changed the COVID-19 protocol with more rapid tests and shorter periods of isolation.

It was announced on the official FIGC website that the modifications have been made to facilitate the completion of the season in Serie A, B, C and women’s football.

They will all have access to rapid COVID-19 tests, which give results both 48 hours before games, but can also be done the same day as a match if there are some positive cases in a squad and his teammates need the all-clear.

Liverani: 'Parma need time'

Parma coach Fabio Liverani said his Gialloblu ‘need time’ but was happy with ‘the attitude’ on display in the 3-1 win against Pescara.

Gotti: 'Udinese had fun'

Udinese coach Luca Gotti said he saw the Friuli ‘have fun’ in the 3-1 win over Vicenza in the Coppa Italia last night.

Giacomelli restarts from Serie B

Referees Piero Giacomelli and Luigi Nasca will reportedly sit out two rounds and must restart from Serie B after the controversial Milan-Roma decisions.

Last night, SportMediaset claimed refereeing designator Nicola Rizzoli will suspend both referee Giacomelli and VAR Nasca for a month.

La Gazzetta dello Sport reveals the refereeing duo will be suspended for at least two rounds of fixtures, but will therefore not return until after the international break.

Coppa Italia: Empoli announce COVID cases

Empoli have announced ‘some cases’ of COVID-19 in the team group ahead of the Coppa Italia match against Benevento.

The Streghe host Empoli at the Ciro Vigorito tomorrow but the opponents from Serie B announced worrying news ahead of the match against the newly promoted Serie A side.

“Empoli FC announce that, following the cycle of swabs carried out on the team group yesterday, some cases of COVID-19 have been found,” the club wrote in a statement.
