Capello: 'Ronaldo in, Higuain out'

Cristiano Ronaldo represents “a work of genius” from Juventus directors, said ex Real Madrid boss Fabio Capello. “I think Gonzalo Higuain is going to Chelsea.”

The transfer was completed today for €100m, plus €12m in formation payments to his previous clubs Sporting CP and Manchester United.

Some have baulked at the €30m per year net salary awarded in a four-year contract to a player who is already 33.

Capello: ‘England favourites for World Cup’

Fabio Capello predicts that France will meet England in the World Cup final “and in that case I see England as favourites”.

The former Juventus, Milan and Real Madrid Coach was England manager for the 2010 World Cup, leaving abruptly before Euro 2012 after John Terry was stripped of the captaincy without him being informed.

“They have fast lads and a great manager [Gareth Southgate],” Capello said of the Three Lions, speaking to Gazzetta dello Sport.

Capello: Rejected Inter & Italy

Fabio Capello claims he rejected Inter ‘four or five times’ and Italy ‘once’ but believes he showed ‘strength’ to leave Roma for Juventus.

Capello was most recently linked with Inter through his last role as Coach of their Chinese sister club Jiangsu Suning, while the former Milan and Real Madrid boss had been put forward as a candidate to replace Giampiero Ventura as Italy’s CT.

“Inter? We’ve been close four or five times, but we’ve never been able to close a deal,” he told Corriere dello Sport.

‘Chelsea will find Sarri fun, but…’

Fabio Capello believes Chelsea will find Maurizio Sarri ‘fun’ but admits he ‘didn’t like’ the Coach’s ‘lack of interest’ in cups during his Napoli tenure.

Sarri is expected to become Chelsea’s next boss after three trophyless years with Napoli – but three which saw the Partenopei break several records and win plaudits for their style of play.

“How do I see Sarri? Fun,” the ex-Milan, Juventus and Roma Coach told Corriere dello Sport.

Capello: ‘Golovin worthy of Juve’

Fabio Capello believes Aleksandr Golovin is “worthy of Juventus” but warns “when these players go outside Russia they have trouble adapting”.

The former Bianconeri Coach was also in charge of the Russian national team from 2012 until 2015, and he was asked for his opinion on the Juve target.

“Golovin is worthy of Juventus,” Capello said on Radio Anch’io Sport.

“He has the right grit and a lot of quality. The problem is that when these players go outside Russia they have trouble adapting.

Capello slams Pogba and Argentina

Fabio Capello maintains Juventus got “a fantastic deal by selling Paul Pogba at that price” and dubbed the Argentina midfield “pathetic.”

The former Milan, Roma, Juventus, Real Madrid, England and Russia Coach is working as a pundit on Mediaset during their World Cup coverage.

He was not impressed with many of the performances so far in the tournament, including that of Manchester United’s €105m purchase Pogba.

Capello: ‘Zidane was right’

Fabio Capello believes Zinedine Zidane was right to step down as Real Madrid Coach - “without the third Champions League he’d have been sacked”.

The Italian if familiar with the culture at the Bernabeu, having led them to the title in two separate spells on the bench.

Today Zizou shocked the football word by stepping down from the job, but the 71-year-old thinks he made the right choice.

“Without the third Champions League he’d have been sacked by [President] Florentino [Perez],” Capello told Sky.

Capello: ‘Balotelli had many chances’

Fabio Capello notes Mario Balotelli has had “many” chances after Roberto Mancini recalled him to the Italy squad.

The striker hasn’t played for his country since the 2014 World Cup, but has been included in the latest Azzurri squad and is expected to face Saudi Arabia tomorrow.

“It’s another chance, and he’s had many,” Capello told Sky.

“If Mancini has given him this chance it means he has faith in him. The shirt of the national team is very heavy, we’ll see if the youngsters can carry that weight.

Capello: 'Juve rivals are weak'

Fabio Capello confirmed his retirement from coaching, gave Gigi Buffon advice and explained why Juventus dominate “weak” Serie A.

The tactician spoke to RMC Sport about several topics, including the Scudetto race that saw Juve pip Napoli to the finish line.

“Napoli are ready to compete with Juventus. Perhaps Maurizio Sarri needs to rotate a bit more and realise he can change system occasionally, something that Roma were also missing at key moments of the campaign,” said Capello.

Capello: ‘Juventus can get eight’

Fabio Capello warns “the Juventus cycle is not over” and they could win an eighth Scudetto in a row next season.

The Bianconeri have extended their own record run by securing this season’s title with a game to spare, not to mention winning a fourth Coppa Italia in a row.

However, Gianluigi Buffon will retire at the end of the season, while Kwadwo Asamoah and Stephan Lichtsteiner will leave, leading some to suggest a changing of the guard could see the Old Lady slip.
