Juventus prepare Alex Sandro renewal

Reports suggest Juventus are preparing a new contract for Alex Sandro, to ward off Chelsea and Real Madrid.

The Brazilian left-back joined the Bianconeri from Porto in 2015 for a fee of €26m, and has become a crucial part of Max Allegri’s side.

It was reported this week that both Chelsea and Madrid were ready to offer €45m for the defender this summer, and Corriere dello Sport believes Juve are taking counter-measures.

Real and Chelsea want Alex Sandro

Real Madrid have joined Chelsea in the push for Juventus left-back Alex Sandro, but the price-tag is at least €45m.

The 26-year-old was plucked from FC Porto in August 2015 for what seemed like a massive €26m, but he has proved to be something of a bargain.

The Brazilian has two goals and five assists in 32 competitive games this season and become the undisputed first choice at left-back.

Chelsea had already shown interest in his services, but now Spanish reports suggest Real Madrid are ready to make an offer too.

Alex Sandro: 'Juve focused with Porto'

Alex Sandro assures Juventus never took the Champions League Round of 16 for granted against Porto, but the red cards were decisive.

Paulo Dybala converted the penalty for this evening’s 1-0 win, but Porto went down to 10 men in both the first and second legs, losing 3-0 on aggregate.

“We’re glad to be through and we knew the tie wasn’t over, because Porto play well on their travels,” the former Porto left-back told Portuguese TV.

Serie A Team of Week 26

As Juventus continue to extend their record run of home wins, Dave Taylor selects his best XI from Week 26.

The Lazio loanee played a big part in keeping the clean sheet despite enduring a siege towards the end. But not before he had acrobatically finger-tipped Dries Mertens’ powerful free-kick on to the crossbar, then punched away another Mertens curler away to safety. Super.

“We knew it was going to be difficult, as Empoli are a well-organised and pretty solid team, but we stayed patient and struck at the right moment."

Thanks, Uncle Pat

As Patrice Evra’s time in Turin is over, Adam Digby reminds Juventus supporters they owe him a huge debt of gratitude.

If ever proof was needed that the march of time is a relentless and unforgiving one, three memories of Patrice Evra’s time at Juventus serve to highlight it perfectly. A little over 18 months apart, they show how the former Manchester United full-back – who has completed his transfer to Olympique Marseille – went from a vitally important player to an ageing liability who no longer has a place in the side.
