Juve don't want Floccari

Sergio Floccari will remain with Lazio despite speculation suggesting that he is wanted by Juventus.

The player is one of numerous strikers who are apparently being targeted by the Old Lady this month as they look to mount a serious Scudetto bid.

However, on the day when La Gazetta dello Sport insisted that Floccari is a Juve option, his agent maintains that such a claim is untrue.

"Juventus have never contacted me to ask about Floccari," Renzo Contratto made it clear. "I can deny such an hypothesis.

Reja: 'Lazio's month of truth'

Edy Reja believes January represents a month of truth for Lazio because it will reveal whether they can dare to dream of winning the title.

Lazio currently lie joint second with Napoli in Serie A, just three points adrift of League leaders Milan with five months of the season remaining.

Interviewed in La Gazzetta dello Sport, Reja said: "Now comes the difficult bit.

"From January 6 to February 6 we have a month full of work to do.

"There is also the derby in the Coppa Italia, which we care about a lot.

Toni, Floccari or Gilardino for Juve

Juventus plan to sign a striker in the January transfer and have Luca Toni, Sergio Floccari or Alberto Gilardino in their mind, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

Gigi Del Neri would like a prolific goalscorer to lead his attack to take some of the burden off the rest of the team.

Juventus general manager Beppe Marotta is known to be very keen on Gilardino who recently changed his agent, possibly to facilitate a move away from Fiorentina.

Lazio accept Santa Cruz rejection

Roque Santa Cruz has rejected a loan spell at Lazio and President Claudio Lotito insists he “understands his ambitions” for a permanent move.

The Manchester City striker seemed on the cusp of making the six-month transfer to Rome, but turned it down because of the family upheaval it would cause.

“We take into account Santa Cruz's reaction and his desire to make any transfer permanent,” commented Lotito.

Lazio strike Santa Cruz loan deal

Roque Santa Cruz is expected to join Lazio on loan from Manchester City in the next few days.

The striker had already been very close to this transfer during the summer, but negotiations collapsed at the last minute.

Now there are numerous reports in Italy and England that the 29-year-old striker will arrive at the Stadio Olimpico before 2010 is out.

The deal would see Lazio pay €300,000 for a six-month loan and the option to buy at the end of the season for €3m.

Lazio linked with Bendtner

Lazio are rumoured to be considering a move for Arsenal's out of favour striker Nicklas Bendtner in the January transfer window.

It's no secret that Edy Reja would like to bring in a target man to bolster his side's attack in the second half of the season.

Lazio have been frequently linked with the likes of Hugo Almeida and Roque Santa Cruz in recent weeks.

Il Corriere dello Sport understands Bendtner has been offered to Lazio on loan with an option to buy in June.

Tacticians get touchline ban

Lecce Coach Gigi De Canio and Lazio boss Edy Reja receive touchline bans for dissent, while Zlatan Ibrahimovic is suspended for Milan.

Serie A is on its winter break, but will return on January 6 with Week 18.

Touchline bans mean both Lazio's Reja and Lecce's De Canio will be in the stands for their games after protesting against the referees.

Milan face Cagliari without star striker Ibrahimovic, who was booked in the 1-0 home defeat to Roma.

Juventus have two players suspended, Leonardo Bonucci and Manuel Giandonato.
