Three injured during Lazio-Sevilla brawl

Three people have been taken to hospital after a brawl broke out between Lazio and Sevilla fans on Wednesday evening.

Corriere dello Sport reports all three had stab wounds, two of which were Spanish and the other American.

The newspaper writes the fight began at around 20:30 GMT in the Monti district of Rome and involved approximately 40 people.

The two Spaniards would have been rescued from a restaurant, where they had sought refuge, while the American was found outside.

Machin: Lazio a ‘complete’ team

Sevilla boss Pablo Machin has warned his side that they will be facing a ‘complete’ Lazio team on Thursday.

Lazio are sweating over the fitness of top goalscorer Ciro Immobile for their Europa League last-32 first leg, but Machin insists the Aquile remain a formidable opponent for Sevilla.

“Surely the games we’ve played so far this year are different to tomorrow’s,” he said at a Press conference.

Luis Alberto: 'Nothing is impossible'

Lazio forward Luis Alberto admits Sevilla "represent the team of my heart", but insists that "doesn't mean I'll hold back".

The 26-year-old came through the youth ranks at the Liga outfit, featuring for the senior side nine times before moving on.

Ahead of a reunion with his former club in the last 32 of the Europa League, the Spaniard insists he's focused on delivering for Lazio and helping them advance to the next round.

Uva: 'CR7 gave Serie A credibility'

UEFA Vice-President Michele Uva hopes Serie A sides excel in the Champions League and Europa League, while Cristiano Ronaldo “gave Italian football credibility.”

Juventus and Roma are in the Champions League Round of 16, while Inter, Napoli and Lazio take part in the Europa League from the Round of 32.

“For an Italian like me, to see the Champions League and Europa League finals be all-Italian affairs would be the ultimate dream,” Uva told RMC Sport radio.

Minute's silence for Emiliano Sala

A minute’s silence will be held at all Champions League and Europa League matches this week in memory of Emiliano Sala.

Sala had been missing since the light aircraft he was travelling on went off radar on the evening of January 21, before his body was confirmed to have been removed from the wreckage last week.

“On behalf of everyone at UEFA, I would like to express my sincerest condolences to the family and loved ones of Emiliano Sala for their loss,” said UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin.
