Fiorentina replace Roma in ICC games

Fiorentina have replaced Roma in the International Champions Cup friendly tournament in the United States, facing Chivas and Arsenal.

Roma had to pull out because the dates would’ve clashed with the Europa League preliminary rounds.

The Viola, who have just been taken over by American billionaire Rocco Commisso, will take their place.

Roma pull out of ICC friendlies

Roma have announced that they will no longer participate in the International Champions Cup this summer.

Roma were due to contest friendlies against Guadalajara, Arsenal and Benfica in the US next month.

However, the Giallorossi released a statement on Wednesday, explaining that ‘unforeseen involvement in the preliminary rounds of the Europa League’ forced them to pull out.

Fixtures released for ICC 2019

The fixture list for this summer’s International Champions Cup has been released, with Juventus, Inter, Milan and Roma all involved.

As expected, Juve will play all their matches in Asia, starting in Singapore against Tottenham Hotspur on July 21.

They will then take on arch-rivals Inter in China three days later, before rounding off the campaign on August 10 in Stockholm against Champions League victims Atletico Madrid.

ICC: Juve, Milan, Inter and Roma enter

Juventus, Milan, Inter and Roma will participate in the 2019 International Champions Cup this summer.

The pre-season tournament is played across several continents, as clubs experiment their formations ahead of the new season.

Italian representatives this year will be Juventus, Milan, Inter and Roma.

Also taking part are Benfica, Manchester United, Bayern Munich, Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, Atletico Madrid, Real Madrid and Chivas De Guadalajara.

The fixtures have not yet been drawn up, nor what country they will be playing in.

Juve 'avoid US because of Ronaldo'

Juventus will reportedly play this summer’s International Champions Cup in Asia so Cristiano Ronaldo avoids being possibly detained by US authorities.

According to the New York Times, ICC organisers have kept Juve out of the US due to Ronaldo’s ‘legal troubles’ concerning the rape allegations brought against him by Kathryn Mayorga.

Lautaro hails Icardi rapport

Lautaro Martinez is enjoying his rapport with Inter teammate Mauro Icardi and confirms he turned down Atletico Madrid.

The Argentine talent turns 21 later this month and scored an acrobatic volley in last night’s 1-0 International Champions Cup win at the Wanda Metropolitano stadium.

“I am very happy, as we’ve gone through some tough friendlies and are preparing well against teams we could face in the Champions League,” the striker told RMC Sport.

Lautaro and Inter stun Atleti

A sensational Lautaro Martinez volley and last-gasp Samir Handanovic save saw Inter beat Atletico Madrid in the International Champions Cup.

This was not only the final pre-season friendly, but also the last game in the ICC, hosted on this occasion by the Wanda Metropolitano stadium.

It was a strong start from Luciano Spalletti’s side, as Mauro Icardi forced a tough save from Jan Oblak one-on-one after a Lautaro Martinez dummy.
