Zanetti hails 'intelligent Leonardo'

Javier Zanetti hailed “intelligent Coach” Leonardo and is looking ahead to Inter's Scudetto challenge.

The Nerazzurri seemed dead and buried in terms of the title race in December, but the dismissal of Rafa Benitez has transformed the squad.

“Thanks to the work of an intelligent Coach like Leo, I am sure the team can grow even more,” said the captain on Sky Sport Italia.

“On top of that, we no longer have 12 injured players like we did in November, as that really penalised us in the League.

Leonardo: 'No magic words needed'

Leonardo has beaten Fabio Capello's record and insists there was “no magic words” to transform Inter at half-time.

The Nerazzurri were losing 1-0 at home to Genoa at the break before coming out for a 5-2 victory.

“We were slow in the first half and these things can happen, but there were no magic words at half-time to get them going again,” smiled the Brazilian.

Split personality Serpenti

Scott Fleming outlines Internazionale's merging of two very different footballing styles - half Leonardo, half Jose Mourinho

If Inter were a comic book villain, they'd be Two Face. Half Leonardo's smile, half Jose Mourinho's scowl. That's what makes Inter 2011.

‘And now for something completely different,' seemed to be Leonardo's motto when he sat on the Nerazzurri bench for the first time in January. His Serpenti were unlike anything else seen in Milan for some time, on the blue and black side at least. They were open, engaging, ambitious, sophisticated, in short – they brought their Coach's personality on to the pitch.

Leonardo: 'Next month is decisive'

Leonardo has told Inter to focus all their attention on Serie A. “The next three or four games are going to be decisive.”

The Nerazzurri's hopes of retaining the Champions League trophy took a beating with their 1-0 home defeat to Bayern Munich, but they're still in the Scudetto race.

“We don't have to get back on track, but rather continue along this path,” insisted the Coach ahead of Sunday night's trip to Sampdoria.

Leo has defensive headache

Internazionale boss Leonardo has a defence to invent for the Serie A trip to Sampdoria this weekend.

Andrea Ranocchia joined Walter Samuel on the sidelines in midweek when he limped off against Bayern Munich, while Ivan Cordoba is also a doubt.

To make matters worse for the Brazilian Coach, star right-back Douglas Maicon is out of the Marassi trip through suspension.

Javier Zanetti will thus come into the defence on the right, while Lucio will definitely start in the middle.

Sacchi gives Leonardo advice

Arrigo Sacchi has given Inter Coach Leonardo advice on how to beat Bayern Munich this evening. “Their defence suffers with pace.”

This evening the two teams go head-to-head for the Champions League knockout round and it is a repeat of last season's Final.

“Leonardo is doing great work in terms of psychology, technique and empathy, but the organisation and style of the football are still to be defined,” former Milan and Italy boss Sacchi wrote in the Gazzetta dello Sport.

Leonardo: 'It's still wide open'

Leonardo forgives Julio Cesar for his decisive mistake and maintains the Champions League is still “very balanced, so it's all wide open.”

Inter fell to a surprise 1-0 home defeat against Bayern Munich when the goalkeeper spilled an Arjen Robben snapshot in the final minute for Mario Gomez to tap in.

“Julio Cesar has no need to apologise. There were many chances in this game and it's part of the sport. He parried it and the goal could've come in other moves, just as we had the opportunities to score.

Leo: Inter will play like champions

Inter Coach Leonardo expects his side to play like the Champions of Europe when they face Bayern Munich on Wednesday evening.

Tomorrow's clash at San Siro is being billed as a rematch of last year's Champions League Final at the Santiago Bernabeu when Inter won 2-0 thanks to a brace of goals from Diego Milito.

"I saw the game in Madrid," Leonardo said. "I supported Inter. I supported the Italian team.

"I felt satisfaction on seeing Inter win.
