Hubner: 'Too many young players!'

Brescia legend Dario Hubner has some controversial views, claiming there are too many young players representing Italy and Federico Chiesa is “not the best Italian.”

The forward, now 51, famously made his mark on calcio in the 1990s with Brescia and then Piacenza, scoring 74 goals in 143 Serie A appearances.

“I am happy to see Fabio Quagliarella top of the Capocannoniere charts, as it’s always nice to see an Italian up there. He scores so much because the Sampdoria squad puts him in a position to score,” Hubner told Tuttomercatoweb.

Belotti: Was a Milan fan, but...

Andrea Belotti says that while he was a Milan fan growing up, he sees his future at Torino. “I’m already at a big club.”

Belotti was heavily linked with Milan in the summer of 2017 until Toro priced him out of a transfer, and the striker admits he has spent his career trying to ‘emulate’ Rossoneri icon Andriy Shevchenko.

“Gattuso was my first Coach at Palermo,” he told Gazzetta dello Sport.

Commentator defends sexist remarks

Italian commentator Sergio Vessicchio has come back out in defence of his sexist remarks about a lineswoman. “I made her famous…”

Vessicchio was commentating on the regional fixture between Campanian sides Agropoli and Sant’Agnello when he launched his sexist tirade against female assistant referee Annalisa Moccia.

Although he ended up apologising, the journalist has now tried to justify his controversial comments.

Romagnoli: Always ready for Italy

Alessio Romagnoli says he will ‘always be ready’ to fill in for Italy after helping them beat Liechtenstein 6-0 on Tuesday.

Romagnoli replaced Giorgio Chiellini in Italy’s central defence against Liechtenstein, doing his bit to ensure the Azzurri held on for their fifth consecutive clean sheet.

“We did well to not underestimate the game, break it open and keep doing more,” he told Rai Sport.

Mancini: Quagliarella for 2020!

Italy CT Roberto Mancini won’t rule Fabio Quagliarella out of the Euro 2020 squad, much like Antonio Di Natale at Euro 2012. “He’s here on merit.”

The Azzurri maintained their perfect start to Euro 2020 qualifying with a 6-0 victory over Liechtenstein, having beaten Finland 2-0 on Saturday.

This puts them top of Group J, as Greece fought back from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 in Bosnia after Miralem Pjanic saw red.

Kolvidsson: 'Some good for Liechtenstein'

Liechtenstein Coach Helgi Kolvidsson insists they “did some good things” in a 6-0 defeat to Italy, “but their quality prevailed.”

The Azzurri were already 3-0 up when Daniel Kaufmann was rather harshly sent off for handball on the line, as he seemed to block the shot with his shoulder.

“It might seem stupid, but despite losing 6-0, I think we did some good things tonight,” said Kolvidsson in his Press conference.

Liecht at the end of the tunnel?

It was heartening to see an Italy goalfest after what felt like years, but Giancarlo Rinaldi won’t get too excited about thrashing 10-man Liechtenstein.

The middle road is not one often taken by football fans, particularly Italian ones. We lurch from profound despair over a defeat to ecstatic joy in victory - sometimes in the space of a few days. It is something which supporters are allowed to indulge in, of course, but Roberto Mancini will surely be working to avoid.

A 2-0 victory over Finland had many decidedly underwhelmed, but the Stadio Tardini was the scene of an all-you-can-eat goal buffet against Liechtenstein.

Italy's biggest win for 57 years

Italy have earned their biggest victory in almost 57 years, while they hadn’t scored six in a single game for 26 years.

The Azzurri took Liechtenstein apart 6-0 in this evening’s Euro 2020 qualifier at the Stadio Tardini in Parma.

Incredibly, before this match, the Nazionale had not scored more than two goals per game since the last time they faced Liechtenstein.

That time, it was a 5-0 victory in the 2018 World Cup qualifying group in June 2017.
