Icardi: ‘Scudetto decided in May’

Inter captain Mauro Icardi says the Scudetto “won’t be decided against Napoli”, and will go down to the wire.

The Nerazzurri take on Maurizio Sarri’s side in the big Monday night fixture, and go into the clash two points clear of the Partenopei at the top of Serie A.

“The Scudetto? It won’t be decided against Napoli,” Icardi told Mediaset.

“It’ll be decided in May when the season ends.”

Arsenal want €45m Icardi?

Arsenal are reportedly ready to offer €45m for Inter captain Mauro Icardi as soon as January.

The Argentine striker has been continually linked with a move to the Premier League and that speculation has continued today.

Corriere dello Sport writes that an injury to Gunners striker Danny Welbeck could encourage the north London side to make a winter bid.

The newspaper believes that an offer of €45m is possible and that a significant sum like this would be difficult for Nerazzurri President Erick Thohir to refuse.

Icardi: ‘Can’t compete with Messi’

Inter’s Mauro Icardi admits it’s hard to get into the Argentina team, as he’s competing with Lionel Messi.

The striker scored 27 goals for the Nerazzurri last season, but has so far only been capped once by his country.

“There are several great footballers in South America,” Icardi told Goal after receiving an award from the website.

“I try to do my job and I'm happy with what I did last season, and because of that I could receive this award.

Fantastic four for the Nerazzurri

Inter go top as they manage to net four against Frosinone, while Juventus start creeping up the table with intent, writes Richard Hall.

Roberto Mancini approached the game against Frosinone with confidence and it certainly showed. Despite the first half setting off at a steady pace, Inter exhibited the same characteristics that had steered them to success in recent rounds. Solid at the back, yet arguably relying a little bit too much on Samir Handanovic, they soon grabbed that all important goal thanks to Jonathan Biabiany.  The Nerazzurri piled on the pressure after half time and Mauro Icardi managed to bundle the ball over the line in a much needed goal for the Argentine.

Chance for Inter to unleash

As Inter host newly promoted Frosinone, Varun Mathure says it is the perfect chance for the Nerazzurri to let themselves go.

As the Inter players return after the international break, they prepare to defend their spot at the top of the table at home against Frosinone. On paper it looks like another three easy points are there for the taking.

Coach Roberto Mancini will not take kindly to a poor result against the minnows. But one wonders if he will be willing to change his approach to this game slightly from what we have seen so far this season.

Mancini: 'All 1-0 to the title'

“A Scudetto can be earned if a team won every game 1-0, just think of Atletico Madrid a few years ago, who won La Liga through their solidity,” said Mancio in a Press conference.

Simoni: 'Fiorentina beauty, Inter muscles'

Gigi Simoni believes Paulo Sousa’s Fiorentina plays the best football “since Pep Guardiola’s Barcelona” and advises “muscular” Inter.

The former Inter Coach made the claim in an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport newspaper.

“It was since Guardiola’s Barcelona that I hadn’t seen anything like it,” declared Simoni.

“Possession, high pressing, synchronised movements. When every player enters into the move, he has three options for the pass.

Inter won't let Icardi go

Liverpool, Chelsea and Real Madrid are tracking Mauro Icardi, but a January exit from Inter is highly unlikely.

The striker won the Capocannoniere title in Serie A last season with 22 goals, but has struggled so far this season and was dropped for last week’s top of the table clash with Roma.

This fuelled rumours of a January swoop by Liverpool or Chelsea worth €35m (£25m), while Real Madrid were also very close to the Argentine over the summer.
