Inter looking at Dzeko alternatives

With Edin Dzeko now off the table, Inter are looking to Fernando Llorente, Ante Rebic, Timo Werner, Alexis Sanchez or Arkadiusz Milik.

Dzeko and Romelu Lukaku had been the first names on Antonio Conte’s list, but the Bosnian signed a new contract with Roma to June 2022 this evening.

According to Sky Sport Italia, the Nerazzurri have been working in the background on other candidates, just in case they couldn’t get Dzeko.

Dzeko changes everything on the market

Edin Dzeko’s surprise contract extension with Roma has a big knock-on effect for Inter, Napoli, Juventus, PSG, Mauro Icardi, Paulo Dybala and Gonzalo Higuain.

Dzeko had clearly been, along with Romelu Lukaku, the first name on Antonio Conte’s wish-list when he took over at Inter this summer.

His decision to commit himself to the Giallorossi until June 2022 effectively ruins the domino effect of strikers that had been expected to take place.

Icardi still has Inter hope?

Mauro Icardi is reportedly confident that Inter will bring him back into the fold if they cannot sign Edin Dzeko from Roma.

Antonio Conte has so far refused to give Icardi a second chance after the striker went in self-imposed exile last season following the club’s decision to strip him of the captaincy.

In the meantime, the Nerazzurri have brought in Romelu Lukaku to wear their No 9 shirt and are also working on a deal for Dzeko.

Chiellini: Icardi 'fantasy football'

Giorgio Chiellini claims the idea of Mauro Icardi at Juventus is ‘fantasy football’ but assures Paulo Dybala does not need any special treatment. “He’s a big boy.”

Juve sporting director Fabio Paratici has long set his sights on Icardi, but Chiellini confessed to having doubts about the arrival of the Inter striker.

“With all due respect to Icardi, the idea of him at Juve is fantasy football,” the defender told Sky Sport Italia.

“We have some great forwards and we’re only thinking about our group.

Rivals 'form anti-Juve alliance'

Inter, Napoli and Roma have reportedly formed an anti-Juventus alliance to stop the Old Lady from signing Mauro Icardi.

According to Corriere dello Sport, the three sides have put on ‘a united front’ to strengthen their respective attacks and ensure Juve miss out on Icardi.

The newspaper talks up a three-way striker scramble, which would see the Argentine join Napoli, Arkadiusz Milik head to Roma and Inter snap up Edin Dzeko.

Paratici: 'Dybala interest and discussions'

Juventus director Fabio Paratici confirmed Paulo Dybala “interest and discussions,” but not that Daniele Rugani and Mario Mandzukic exits were imminent.

Coach Maurizio Sarri made the situation clear in a Press conference when complaining it was “embarrassing” that he had to cut six players from the current group for their Champions League squad.

While Matthijs de Ligt, Merih Demiral, Gianluigi Buffon and Danilo have come in, only Joao Cancelo, Leonardo Spinazzola and Moise Kean have left.

Dybala still has much to give Juventus

Juventus need to think twice before letting a talent like Paulo Dybala leave, as Anthony Barbagallo insists La Joya can shine for Maurizio Sarri.

The recent sales of Italian starlet Moise Kean and Portugal international Joao Cancelo suggests that Juve is heading in entirely the wrong direction. Selling young talents and keeping aged players like Sami Khedira and Gonzalo Higuain means there is no future project in the works over at Turin. However, the bigger picture here is that the Bianconeri are slowly losing their identity.

Icardi blocks Dzeko and €45m deal

Inter would gladly sell Mauro Icardi to Roma for €45m plus Edin Dzeko, it’s reported, but Mauro Icardi is holding out for Juventus.

The striker continues his cold war with the club, as he was the captain in February, but is by now an outcast forced to train separately.

According to Sportitalia, the Nerazzurri have agreed a basic deal with Roma to hand over Icardi in exchange for €40-50m plus Dzeko.

However, the Argentine has no intention of accepting the transfer, or a move to Napoli, because he has his heart set on Juventus.

Lukaku worth the risk for Conte

Antonio Conte has wanted the Belgian for years, so Sam Wilson analyses how Romelu Lukaku will fit in to this Inter side.

It was one of the most widely discussed and covered rumours of the summer, but last week Inter Milan officially confirmed the signing of Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku from Manchester United. The fee stands at €65m plus €10m in bonuses and a five per cent cut of any future transfer fee. It represents a big gamble on behalf of the Nerazzurri for a player who has drawn a lot of criticism over the past few seasons in England.

It is another step towards a Cold War between former Juve colleagues and now bitter rivals, Beppe Marotta and Fabio Paratici.

For several months now, Sky Sport Italia have reported that Juventus had agreed personal terms with Chiesa and his entourage, with the player pushing to be allowed an exit.
