OFFICIAL: Icardi gets Inter No 7

Inter have confirmed that Mauro Icardi is in their Serie A squad this season and will wear the No 7.

Icardi was previously Inter’s No 9 and captain, but he was stripped of the armband midway through last season.

The situation threatened to unravel, amidst reports the Nerazzurri would force the Argentine to run down his contract without playing if he did not agree to a move away.

Ancelotti: Why Napoli signed Lozano...

Carlo Ancelotti has explained why Napoli signed Hirving Lozano ahead of a facing ‘very dangerous’ Fiorentina. “We don’t want specialists.”

Lozano finally completed a club-record move to Napoli on Friday, little over 24 hours before the Partenopei kick off their 2019-20 Serie A campaign at the Artemio Franchi.

Icardi to resume Inter training

Wanda Nara has all-but-confirmed that Mauro Icardi will remain an Inter player as it is reported he will train with the first team this evening.

Speculation linking Icardi with moves away has cooled in recent days, and Wanda tweeted a picture of herself with other WAGs at Lautaro Martinez’s 22nd birthday bash last night.

“Another year together,” read the caption.

Sport Mediaset and Sky Sport Italia, meanwhile, have since reported that the striker has been called up to train at San Siro later.

Napoli & United in Llorente tug-of-war

English papers claim Fernando Llorente is close to Manchester United, but Italian and Spanish reports point him towards Napoli, as Mauro Icardi continues to stall.

The former Juventus and Tottenham Hotspur striker is a free agent after his contract expired, so can sign for any club, even after the transfer deadline.

According to various English reports, Llorente is seriously considering a two-year proposal from Manchester United, where he’d replace Inter-bound Romelu Lukaku.

Careca: Icardi can go to hell!

Napoli hero Careca has insisted that Mauro Icardi ‘can go to hell’ if he does not want to join, while backing Arkadiusz Milik to reach 30 goals this season.

Napoli have reportedly given Icardi until Thursday to accept their offer, prompting Careca to hit out at how the Inter striker has made his former club wait.

“Are we really still waiting for his answer? If he doesn’t want to come, he can go to hell,” the 58-year-old told Il Mattino.

Napoli drop Icardi, get Llorente

Mauro Icardi is determined to only leave Inter for Juventus, so Napoli are ready to sign Fernando Llorente instead, it’s reported.

The Argentine has put up barriers all summer and has no intention of changing his mind now, even after being frozen out by Antonio Conte and the club.

According to Sky Sport Italia and Sportitalia, Icardi and Wanda Nara have made it clear they will not consider a move to Napoli, even with Inter accepting a €65m offer.

Could Icardi open to Napoli talks?

Tomorrow could be decisive for Mauro Icardi, as while Inter have reportedly agreed a €65m fee with Napoli, Wanda Nara will be in Capri.

The striker has until now held out only for Juventus or is prepared to remain at San Siro, even after being told he has no place in Antonio Conte’s squad.

According to the latest reports from the Corriere dello Sport, Inter have accepted a €65m proposal from Napoli, but the situation remains the same as it has been for weeks now, as it’s about getting Icardi to agree.

Icardi drops Inter hint

Mauro Icardi has dropped a hint that he will be staying at Inter after announcing that his new home in Milan is ‘coming’.

Sport Mediaset reported earlier that Icardi would wear No 7 for Inter, and that was followed by Wanda Nara confirming she would be back for another season on Italian football show Tiki Taka.

The striker has since broken his own silence by posting pictures of his new residence in Milan, although it still resembles more of a construction site.

Report: Icardi picks Inter No 7

Mauro Icardi has reportedly chosen Inter’s No 7 shirt as he is now thinking of staying at the club.

Icardi looked to be on his way out of Inter, but his insistence on only leaving for Juventus has kept him on the sidelines at San Siro.

The Argentine has been left out of first-team training for the past month, while Romelu Lukaku has since taken his No 9 from him.

However, Sport Mediaset claims he asked for the club’s No 7 jersey - as a sign of his intention to be reintegrated - and had his request accepted.

Make the right move, Maurito

Napoli are tailor-made for a clinical finisher like Mauro Icardi and all roads lead to the San Paolo, but Giancarlo Rinaldi fears he’ll waste this too.

As a failed former striker of mediocre repute, there are few things I find more frustrating than watching talent go to waste. Most of us - spectators, supporters or scribes - have harboured some dreams of swapping places with the stars who set foot on the fields of Serie A, La Liga or the Premiership. To watch gifts like those given to Mauro Icardi being apparently frittered away has the horrible feeling of seeing your best bottle of Barolo going glug-glug-glugging down the drain.
