Iachini: ‘A shame we didn’t win’

Beppe Iachini admits Sassuolo failed to take advantage of promising positions in their 2-2 draw with Benevento.

The Neroverdi came from behind to lead Serie A’s bottom club through two goals by Matteo Politano, but Chieck Diabate’s second strike of the afternoon handed Le Streghe a share of the points.

Carnevali: ‘Berardi has declined’

Sassuolo CEO Giovanni Carnevali admits Domenico Berardi “is no longer what he was in recent years”.

The forward was co-owned by Juventus until 2015, and was coveted by all of Serie A’s leading lights.

However, he has scored just 14 goals in the last three seasons, and has struggled with a knee problem.

“It’s pointless hiding it, Berardi is no longer what he was in recent years,” Carnevali declared on Radio Sportiva.

Suso to Napoli, Berardi to Milan?

Reports continue to spread that Napoli are eager to swoop for Milan winger Suso and he could be replaced by Domenico Berardi.

The Spaniard had been linked with a move down south last season and again in January.

According to Tuttosport and Il Roma, among others, the Partenopei have set their sights on Suso and could even be prepared to pay the €38m release clause.

In turn, the former Liverpool man would be happy to join Maurizio Sarri’s men if Milan failed to qualify for the Champions League.

Sassuolo Europe’s worst attack

Sassuolo have the worst attack in the top five European leagues, statistics from FootyStats show, scoring just 15 goals in 26 games.

The Neroverdi boast some big names up-front, with Napoli trying and failing to sign Matteo Politano in January, only to see the deal collapse at the last minute.

That’s despite the fact the 24-year-old has scored just three Serie A goals this season, while Domenico Berardi, who has been rated at €40m, has managed only two.
