Nainggolan: 'I'd return to Roma'

Radja Nainggolan was ‘sadder to have left Roma than he was happy to join Inter’ and admits he would return ‘if the conditions are right’.

Nainggolan was sold to Inter in the summer of 2018, despite being a fans’ favourite at Roma and having helped the Giallorossi reach the Champions League semi-finals just months earlier.

Nainggolan: 'Pride got the better of me'

Cagliari midfielder Radja Nainggolan regrets leaving Roma and believes he could’ve still had his say with Inter. “I let pride get the better of me.”

The Belgian walked away from Roma following a clash with then-director of sport Monchi, but lasted only one season at San Siro before he was frozen out.

“I left my heart in Rome, as that was a unique experience,” said Nainggolan in his Instagram Live chat with tennis champion Fabio Fognini.

Cagliari must negotiate with Nainggolan

Sporting director Mario Passetti has revealed that Cagliari are prepared to negotiate with both Inter and Radja Nainggolan, to keep the player in Sardinia.

The Nerazzurri are reportedly looking to sell the former Belgium international for €18m this summer and even if the Rossoblu can find the resources to secure a deal with Inter, the player’s salary will cause problems for the Sardinians.

“We have always said it,” he told La Domenica Sportiva. “That’s our position, we will have to talk about it together.

The season had started in extraordinary fashion with fourth place and a lengthy unbeaten run, only to crash and burn with coach Rolando Maran sacked.

His replacement, Walter Zenga, has not yet made his debut because Serie A was halted by the coronavirus pandemic.

Fiorentina back in for Nainggolan?

Fiorentina are reportedly plotting to take Inter midfielder Radja Nainggolan on loan with a €20m obligation to buy.

Fiorentina were heavily linked with Nainggolan last summer, but the 31-year-old opted to return to Cagliari for the 2019-20 campaign.

However, the Sardinians are unlikely to be able to afford a permanent deal for ‘Ninja’ and La Nazione claims that is music to the ears of Fiorentina.
