Napoli suspend non-playing staff

Napoli have become the first Serie A club to temporarily lay off non-playing staff as a result of the coronavirus crisis.

Sport Mediaset writes 30 Napoli employees, some of whom have been working remotely, will not be paid for two months.

Unlike in countries such as Denmark and the UK, the Italian government has yet to announce a furlough scheme covering the wages of workers who cannot be utilised due to the pandemic.

Report: Napoli set on Gattuso

Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis is reportedly planning for a future with Gennaro Gattuso at the helm and could extend his current deal at the San Paolo.

Calciomercato.com reports that Aurelio De Laurentiis thinks the former Milan coach is the right man to lead the Partenopei project, after Gattuso replaced Carlo Ancelotti at the helm in December.

Allan to follow Ancelotti?

Everton are linked with Napoli pair Allan and Kalidou Koulibaly, as Carlo Ancelotti allegedly looks to negotiate with his former boss Aurelio De Laurentiis.

The Italian tactician might make a swift return to Naples, but only to discuss possible transfer targets for his new side from Goodison Park.

After a turbulent season at the San Paolo, Allan looks set to leave this summer and Ancelotti, according to the Gazzetta dello Sport, eyes an opportunity for the Toffees to bring the Brazilian midfielder to Merseyside.

Official: Napoli return to training next week

Napoli have officially announced that the team is returning to training next Wednesday, despite the appeals of the AIC to wait until April.

The club announced late this evening that on Wednesday March 25 they will return to training at the Castel Volturno for a morning session.

President Aurelio De Laurentiis, along with Lazio patron Claudio Lotito were reportedly the only two sides in the Italian top flight that wanted to return their respective sides to training before the April 4 date.

Napoli to make summer Castrovilli offer

Napoli are the latest club to be linked to Fiorentina midfielder Gaetano Castrovilli.

The Italian midfielder is having his breakout season in Serie A this year, and has made 24 appearances in the league for the Viola.

The 22-year-old only signed for the club last summer following a spell at Bari in Serie B.

La Gazzetta dello Sport that Napoli would like Castrovilli as part of their midfield for next season.

Agent: 'Napoli want to keep Callejon'

“Napoli have always wanted to renew his contract, but there is no agreement at this moment,” confirmed Jose Callejon’s agent.

The winger will be a free agent in June and set to leave the Stadio San Paolo after seven years, although it seems the situation isn’t quite as clear-cut as previously thought.

“(Napoli President Aurelio) De Laurentiis always wanted to renew his contract,” agent Manuel Garcia Quilon told Calciomercato.it.

Mertens agrees new Napoli contract

Dries Mertens met with Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis today and it’s reported he agreed a new two-year contract.

Photographs emerged this afternoon of Mertens sitting outside at lunch with the club patron.

According to multiple sources, including Sky Sport Italia expert Gianluca Di Marzio, the meeting was meant to be a discussion, but proved far more fruitful than either party expected.

Brescia reject Napoli Tonali offer

Napoli have reportedly made an offer for Brescia midfielder Sandro Tonali, with Rondinelle President Massimo Cellino rejecting it out of hand.

Tonali is in his first season in the top flight with Brescia, and is attracting plenty of suitors.

Il Mattino report that Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis is a big admirer of the 19-year-old, and has already put an offer on the table for Tonali.

The newspaper suggests that De Laurentiis has offered €45m, which includes bonuses and various performance-related extras.

ADL: 'Napoli could sue referees'

Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis won’t rule out suing referees and the FIGC for damages in future. “An official who won’t view VAR is committing a sporting crime.”

The patron spoke to the Corriere dello Sport after a series of controversial incidents in recent weeks, which prompted the Italian authorities to suggest introducing a VAR challenge, similar to in tennis, where coaches are allowed to request limited on-field reviews.

Report: Krasnodar in for Younes

FK Krasnodar are reportedly trying to bring Amin Younes on loan from Napoli and are hoping to close a deal before the transfer deadline later this month.

The 26-year-old was linked with a move away from the Partenopei last month and despite reported offers from Germany and Qatar, the price tag set by President Aurelio De Laurentiis was not met.

The German has stayed put, but his last match for the Azzurri came against Udinese during the start of December and he is looking for a way out.
