Mazzarri: 'So much Ansaldi potential'

Torino boss Walter Mazzarri isn't getting carried away after a 2-1 win over Fiorentina, but hopes Cristian Ansaldi can finally reach his full "potential."

The Granata secured a 2-1 win against Fiorentina at the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino, that sees them move into eighth place in the table.

“We need to keep our feet on the ground, in this environment there is no balance, everything can change from one day to the next," Mazzarri told Sky Sport Italia.

Torino boss Walter Mazzarri has admitted that Andrea Belotti is a major doubt to face Genoa tomorrow.

The Granata are on a poor run of form at the moment, with only one win in their last five Serie A games, the most recent of which ended in a 3-0 home defeat to Inter.

“Against Inter we had 60 percent possession, but what we were missing was the right decision-making in front of their goal,” Mazzarri said at a press conference.

Walter Mazzarri admits Torino defensive errors in the 3-0 home defeat to Inter were “unjustifiable,” while providing an injury update on Andrea Belotti.

Mazzarri: 'Ignoring Inter past'

Torino boss Walter Mazzarri says he is ignoring his Inter past ahead of facing them in Serie A tomorrow. 

Mazzarri coached Inter between May 2013 and November 2014 but with little success as a fifth-placed finish was followed by the sack months later.

Nonetheless, he asserted at a press conference: "I'm not thinking about the past, I'm thinking about facing Inter, one of the best teams in the League.

"When you face the second-best team in the League, you are subconsciously fired up more than usual."

Report: Clearance sale at Torino

Torino are reportedly looking to cash in on some of their squad members, including Kevin Bonifazi, Simone Zaza and Iago Falque.

'Toro working on Mazzarri renewal'

Torino President Urbano Cairo confirms he has already discussed a renewal with Walter Mazzarri, reassuring the coach “it will happen very soon.”

Torino beat Brescia 4-0 win last weekend to end a run of six games without a win, and Cairo has now moved to ease the pressure on Mazzarri.

“I haven’t thought for one second about replacing him,” he told Gazzetta dello Sport.

“I pursued him for many years. Only a month-and-half, two months ago, we were talking about a renewal.

Simone Zaza might be out for a month with a sprained ankle, as tests reveal the Torino man’s injury is more serious than first expected.

Torino coach Walter Mazzarri still had warnings for his team even after a 4-0 victory away to Brescia. “We sat back at 2-0 up.”

The Granata finally got their first win in six weeks, crushing 10-man Brescia at the Stadio Rigamonti with two Andrea Belotti penalties and a late brace from substitute Alex Berenguer.

“We broke through deservedly and created the situations that would’ve allowed us to score even more goals,” Mazzarri told Sky Sport Italia.
