Chiellini: Icardi 'fantasy football'

Giorgio Chiellini claims the idea of Mauro Icardi at Juventus is ‘fantasy football’ but assures Paulo Dybala does not need any special treatment. “He’s a big boy.”

Chiellini 'struck' by Sarri

Juventus captain Giorgio Chiellini admits he has been ‘struck’ by the meticulous ways of new boss Maurizio Sarri.

Sarri replaced Max Allegri as Juve’s Coach earlier in the summer, and he has made a positive first impression on Chiellini, who turned 35 yesterday.

“What’s struck me is how meticulous he is in his approach, in all the things he does,” he told JTV.

Time's up for Rugani

Daniele Rugani takes one step forward and two back at Juventus, as Wayne Girard warns it’s time to move on.

This was meant to be Daniele Rugani’s year, having learned from the BBC of Leonardo Bonucci, Andrea Barzagli and Giorgio Chiellini, the best defensive trio of this past generation. Instead, the Italy international finds himself unappreciated at Juventus.

When looking at the defence from a statistical point of view, one sees that not all has been right for the Old Lady, with an aging and jostled backline. This past season, Juventus saw its highest total goals allowed since the BBC trio’s unification.

Juve dealt Chiellini boost

Juventus have been boosted by the return of captain Giorgio Chiellini after he trained on Saturday.

Chielini missed Juve’s preseason tour of Asia with a calf injury, but Juve confirmed earlier that he worked with the group as usual.

Providing he stays fit, the defender should be available for next week’s International Champions Cup finale against Atletico Madrid in Sweden.

It comes amidst alleged concerns on the club’s part over the veteran’s long-term fitness.

Demiral as decisive as De Ligt

Juventus must embrace Merih Demiral, as Anthony Barbagallo insists the Turkish centre-back boasts the same potential as Matthijs de Ligt.

Juventus look like they are juggling with two different projects at this current time. The Bianconeri have made a drastic coaching change and have added some new key signings to the squad – hoping these acquisitions can instantly solve the Old Lady’s Champions League drought.

Chiellini out of Juventus tour?

Giorgio Chiellini could miss the Juventus pre-season tour of Asia with a calf injury, it’s reported.

The captain has long suffered from recurring calf problems and heavy training loads have seemingly taken a lot out on the left leg.

According to Sky Sport Italia, Chiellini is struggling with the left calf issue and could be left out of the squad travelling to Asia this weekend.

Coach Maurizio Sarri will announce his squad list tomorrow and could include Chiellini, even if only to continue studying the new tactics in place.
