Chiellini: 'Juventus want Champions League'

Juventus’ 36-year-old captain Giorgio Chiellini aims for the Champions League in 2020-21 and said ‘retirement doesn’t scare me’.

Despite having won nine consecutive Scudetti, the Bianconeri defender admits Juventus have targeted the European Cup the last 24 years and ‘dream’ of lifting the prestigious Cup.

“The Champions League is a dream, a goal, let’s call it what we want,” Chiellini told Fanpage.it. “It’s something Juventus have wanted since 1996.”

Chiellini: 'Hope injuries are over'

Giorgio Chiellini hopes to be fit and healthy for the 2020-21 campaign and shrugs off questions about Luis Suarez coming to Juventus.

The defender is a year on from the torn anterior cruciate ligament that forced him to miss most of the season.

“It was a difficult year on a personal level, as I had hoped that my time dealing with serious injuries was over,” the veteran told Sky Sport Italia.

“What I hope for the new season is certainly good health so that I can help my team.”

Chiellini doesn't exclude retirement after Euro 2020

Juventus and Italy captain Giorgio Chiellini has not excluded that he could hang up his boots after the European Championship next summer.

Chiellini suffered a serious injury at the start of 2019-20 and never fully recovered during the season.

But the Italy captain hopes to have a good 2020-21 and 'crown' his Azzurri career as a protagonist in Euro 2020 next summer.

“I don’t know, it could be nice like that. I won’t rule it out,” he said at a press conference. “I find it hard to look ahead.

Pirlo's era at Juve has started

The new era at Juventus with Andrea Pirlo at the helm began this morning, as the new coach arrived at Continassa together with his assistant Igor Tudor.

The Bianconeri coach Pirlo arrived at J|Medical at 7.00 UK time this morning, the first in place with captain Giorgio Chiellini.

Four players arrived later this morning, as Mattia Perin, Aaron Ramsey, Dejan Kulusevski and Cristian Romero came for their usual medical examinations before starting pre-season.
