Fiorentina stick with Pioli

Fiorentina have announced that Stefano Pioli willl be given the chance to get the team ‘back to being what they were: competitive, brave and proud.’

It was initially reported that Pioli had to beat Bologna in Fiorentina’s next game or lose his job, but the Viola appear to be sticking with the Coach for the final two months of the season.

Bologna game 'decisive for Pioli'

Stefano Pioli’s future as Fiorentina Coach will reportedly depend on their result against Bologna on Sunday.

A defeat in that game would see Primavera boss Emiliano Bigica replace the 53-year-old after just one win from their last 11 matches, claims Gazzetta dello Sport.

Bigica would take the reins at the Artemio Franchi until the end of the season, while a decision would be made on who would take the job on a permanent basis in the summer.

Pioli: 'Fiorentina weren't ourselves'

Stefano Pioli admits Fiorentina fans had every right to jeer them after a 1-0 home defeat to Frosinone. “We just weren’t ourselves.”

Federico Chiesa hit the woodwork, but the relegation strugglers wasted several chances before Daniel Ciofani’s late winner at the Stadio Franchi.

“It was difficult to predict a game like this, as our recent performances had been more convincing in every way,” the Coach told DAZN.

Pioli: 'Don't judge Fiorentina yet'

Pioli: Fiorentina didn't suffer

Stefano Pioli believes Fiorentina ‘didn’t suffer that much’ against Roma, even if his side have a problem ‘killing off games’.

Fiorentina threw away the lead twice to draw 2-2 with Roma on Wednesday, leaving the Viola with just one win from their last 10 games.

“If we don’t take our chances, we leave games open, especially against very determined teams like Roma. There was the possibility of winning,” Pioli said after the game, which was his team’s 15th Serie A draw of the season.

Pioli: Fiorentina know Roma...

Stefano Pioli has warned Roma that his Fiorentina side ‘know’ them as Federico Chiesa is ‘available for selection’ on Wednesday.

Pioli’s statement rings true as Fiorentina thrashed Roma 7-1 in the Coppa Italia with a fit Chiesa earlier in the season, although the Giallorossi have since changed Coach.

“We’ve prepared for the game against Roma with a lot of video and field work,” he told Viola Channel.

Stefano Pioli concedes Fiorentina’s campaign is petering out because of too many stalemates, as they were held again by Torino.

It was their fifth consecutive home draw and Giovanni Simeone’s opener was cancelled out by a Daniele Baselli curler.

“We’ve collected too many draws for us to be in a better position in the table,” confessed the Coach on Sky Sport Italia.
