Genoa: Romero going to Juve

Genoa have all-but-confirmed that defender Cristian Romero will join Juventus this summer.

Romero has been heavily linked with Juve for some time, and Genoa President Enrico Preziosi suggested a sale was close to going through.

“For Romero, negotiations have started with Juve,” he told Primocanale.

“His transfer will help to put our budget in order.”

Many Grifone fans have yet to forgive Preziosi for selling Krzysztof Piatek to Milan in January, so would the patron make the same decision again?

Genoa and Samp must rise

Ahead of Sunday’s Derby della Lanterna, Hasan Saiyid asks whether Genoa and Sampdoria can take the next step under current ownership.

The dimensions of the Stadio Luigi Ferraris in Genoa prime it for spectacle. During the city derby, the 36,000 capacity stadium brims with Genoa and Sampdoria fans, an explosion of colour and noise that feels more intense in smaller surroundings.

“For me he’ll reach 35 goals. I expect him to do that, otherwise I wouldn’t have sold him for so much.
