ADL: 'Gattuso is a warrior'

Napoli owner Aurelio De Laurentiis has revealed he will sit down with Gennaro Gattuso in August to evaluate and possibly extend of his current deal.

Gattuso replaced Carlo Ancelotti in December and the President expected a longer transition period than the former midfielder needed at the San Paolo.

During a difficult first half of the season, De Laurentiis admitted he had immediately contacted Gattuso and told him to not go anywhere.

Coppa Final vindication for Gattuso's Napoli

Gennaro Gattuso’s Napoli revival continued by pushing past Inter to reach their first Coppa Italia Final since 2014, writes Kaus Pandey.

When Rino Gattuso replaced Carlo Ancelotti in December, things looked pretty bleak for Napoli, but he has turned their season around and could win silverware by taking them to their first Coppa Italia Final since 2014. Under Don Carlo, the dressing room was fractured and the players were openly rebelling against the club.

On the pitch, they hadn’t won a game in nine outings and were dropping away from European qualification. The defensive midfield issue was exposing the team’s backline on a weekly basis, as they leaked goals.

Koulibaly: 'Napoli regaining confidence'

Kalidou Koulibaly says Napoli are regaining their ‘confidence’ under Gennaro Gattuso after reaching the Coppa Italia Final. ‘I want to repay’ the team and fans.

This was the first game back since the lockdown and the Partenopei held Inter to a 1-1 draw, allowing them to qualify 2-1 on aggregate, so they’ll face Juventus in the Final on June 17.

Lippi: 'Gattuso top coach in the making'

Marcello Lippi believes Gennaro Gattuso is ‘becoming a top coach’ and that he has already made Napoli his own team.

Gattuso overcame a tough start to win nine of his 15 games since replacing Carlo Ancelotti in December, and Lippi has high hopes for the Napoli boss.

“Conte’s a top coach, Gattuso’s becoming one,” he told Gazzetta dello Sport.

Report: ADL ready to meet with Gattuso

Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis will reportedly meet with Gennaro Gattuso before the Inter match on Saturday, to discuss a new deal until June 2022.

The Partenopei coach has, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, convinced the patron and will be rewarded with a new deal worth €1.5m a year at the San Paolo.

Napoli prepare to face Inter on Saturday and the newspaper claims De Laurentiis wants to get the formalities sorted before the resumption and should be ready to plan with the former Rossoneri tactician.

Gattuso's sister dead at 37

Napoli coach Gennaro Gattuso is in mourning after his sister Francesca died at the age of 37, having been in intensive care since February.

Following the match against Sampdoria, the 42-year-old Napoli coach left the post-match interviews to visit his sister in the hospital, as she was taken ill that evening.

She had been in hospital ever since, but her condition worsened and she died this morning.

Today, the Partenopei coach learned the tragic news during training at Castel Volturno.

Uncertain times for Lozano

Hirving Lozano has struggled to establish himself at Napoli and could be on his way after only one season at the San Paolo.

La Repubblica claims the Mexican could join the other four outcasts on their way out the door in the upcoming transfer market.

Jose Callejon, Allan, Faouzi Ghoulam and Arkadiusz Milik look set to part ways with the Partenopei this summer, but the newspaper has hinted that neither Lozano features in coach Gennaro Gattuso’s plans.

New deal for Meret?

Napoli are, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, preparing to reward goalkeeper Alex Meret with a new deal at the San Paolo.

The newspaper claims the Partenopei have been in contact with the shot stopper’s agent to extend with the former Udinese man.

The 23-year-old, capped once by Italy, has played 15 games in Serie A this term, rotating with David Ospina, who has seemed to develop into becoming the first choice under Gennaro Gattuso in recent months.
