Gandini: 'Who is in charge of Milan?'

Former Milan director Umberto Gandini maintains Marco Giampaolo “put himself on the chopping block” and reveals he warned Ivan Gazidis.

The club has been struggling in recent months, as they pulled out of the Europa League to wipe the Financial Fair Play slate clean, then sacked Marco Giampaolo after seven games to bring in Stefano Pioli.

“I believe Pioli arrives at the right moment and it’s impossible not to agree with Zvonimir Boban when he says this was a carefully pondered decision,” Gandini told Radio 24.

Iachini: 'I'd love Sampdoria return'

Beppe Iachini confirmed he’d be “very happy to return to Sampdoria,” as he is the only remaining candidate along with Gianni De Biasi following Gennaro Gattuso’s refusal.

Samp parted company with Eusebio Di Francesco this week, terminating his contract by mutual consent after just seven Serie A games, six of which were defeats.

President Massimo Ferrero has seen several choices turn him down, including Stefano Pioli and most recently Gattuso.

Pioli set up as just another Milan flop

Stefano Pioli is only the latest poor sap to take the thankless task of leading Milan, as Susy Campanale identifies the real culprits.

People have noted that political satires like The Thick of It and Veep are providing scenarios less ridiculous than the ones we see playing out on the news every day now. The chaos at AC Milan feels much the same. There comes a point when ‘banter era’ doesn’t really cover it. This is a club without a plan, a leader, an identity, just endless half-thought-out projects that are thrown out to the public before they’ve been properly vetted, then abandoned once enough negative feedback arrives.

Ferrero: Won't convince Gattuso

Sampdoria owner Massimo Ferrero has warned Gennaro Gattuso that “I don’t want a Coach who needs convincing.”

Samp held talks with Gattuso yesterday the former Milan boss filling their managerial vacancy, but it is understood the Coach wants time to reflect on the club’s proposal.

“I don’t want a Coach who needs convincing,” Ferrero told Telenord.

Gattuso considering Sampdoria job

After turning down Genoa, multiple sources report Gennaro Gattuso is in advanced talks to replace Eusebio Di Francesco at Sampdoria.

Gattuso was first choice for Genoa, but rejected the proposal from President Enrico Preziosi, as did Stefano Pioli (who is heading to Milan instead) and Francesco Guidolin (according to Sportitalia).

Endless parade of Milan managers

Since Max Allegri was fired in January 2014, Milan have had eight different tacticians on their bench and Stefano Pioli will make it nine.

The Rossoneri have seen a constant turnaround of Coaches, not helped by the fact that during that same period, the club has been under three different owners and a multitude of directors.

Following Allegri’s dismissal in January 2014, Milan had assistant manager Mauro Tassotti take charge of one game before Clarence Seedorf saw out the season.

Spalletti or Pioli for Milan job?

Milan are taking time to consider Marco Giampaolo’s position, with Luciano Spalletti and Stefano Pioli reportedly the favourites, but there is one Gennaro Gattuso option.

The 2-1 win away to Genoa was not enough to take the pressure off this Coach, as the performance was still disappointing and lacking in any clear identity.

Gattuso in, Maldini out?

Gennaro Gattuso could return to Milan in place of Marco Giampaolo, it’s reported, but only if Paolo Maldini leaves first.

Today there is a crunch match with Genoa and defeat could spell the end for the brief Giampaolo era.

He has lost four of the opening six Serie A games and the quality of football has shown few signs of a turnaround.

According to the Corriere dello Sport, the prime candidate to replace Giampaolo is the man who made way for him in the first place – Gennaro Gattuso.
