It was already known, but Simone Inzaghi confirmed that Inter have signed Medhi Taremi as a free agent. ‘We’re very happy to have him.’

Inzaghi was speaking to DAZN after this evening’s 1-0 Serie A defeat to Sassuolo when he was shown footage of Taremi’s goal for Porto against Chaves.

“He is an important player, he has a lot of experience in Champions League games, in Europe, he scored many goals and we are happy to have him,” said the coach.

“We will have a larger squad next season, so we needed more strikers.”

Taremi heading to Inter

The club had already made an approach for the FC Porto star last summer and again in January, but were put off by the asking price.

They instead laid the foundations to make a swoop for when his contract expires on June 30 and a medical has reportedly already been arranged and passed.

Inter need to boost their squad, as they will be in both the expanded Champions League and have already qualified for the 2025 Club World Cup tournament next summer.

Speaking to Sky Sport Italia tonight, Inzaghi also did not deny when it was put to him that Inter had secured Piotr Zielinski from Napoli and Taremi as free agents.
