Pisa to bid for Gila

Alberto Gilardino has been linked with a move from current club Empoli to neighbours Pisa.

The 34-year-old moved to the Blues from Palermo in the summer, but has so far failed to impress.

The former Italy striker has failed to score in 568 minutes of Serie A football this term, only netting once in the Coppa Italia.

A move to Pisa would see him link up with former Milan teammate Gennaro Gattuso, who is currently in charge of the Torri.

Abate: 'Lapadula is like Gattuso'

Ignazio Abate hails Gianluca Lapadula for having “the same grit as Gennaro Gattuso” and points out he saw Milan’s success coming.

“Things are going well and now the tough thing is staying in second place for as long as possible,” Abate told the Corriere dello Sport.

“Nobody would’ve bet a Euro on us at the start of the season, but I did say we only had two or three teams ahead of us. People called me crazy and said I was too optimistic.

Serie B: Pisa find new buyers

Good news at last for Serie B side Pisa, as the club has agreed terms for a sale to the Corrado Group.

The club has been on the verge of bankruptcy all season, as two different attempts to salvage it failed.

Today the Carrara Holding srl announced it had reached an agreement with Magico srl to sell 100 per cent of the shares.

It’s a huge boost for Coach Gennaro Gattuso, who had noted last week the club was “non-existent.”

‘Belotti is like Shevchenko’

Gennaro Gattuso says Torino striker Andrea Belotti “reminds me of Andriy Shevchenko”.

The Coach worked with Belotti in his time at Palermo, and says he was crucial in convincing the Rosanero to sign the Italian international from Albinoleffe.

“When the sporting director Giorgio Perinetti and I took him from Albinoleffe to Palermo and I said he reminded me terribly of Shevchenko, people laughed at me,” Gattuso recalled, speaking to Tuttosport.

Coppa: Torino beat Pisa in extra time

Torino were forced to extra time by Serie B side Pisa, but eventually ran out 4-0 winners and face Milan next in the Coppa Italia.

There was a minute’s silence before kick-off and Toro wore black armbands after the plane crash involving Brazilian club Chapecoense, which was eerily reminiscent of the Superga tragedy that struck Torino in 1949.

‘Milan won’t win Scudetto, but…’

Gennaro Gattuso believes “we can’t talk of a Milan worthy of the Scudetto” but praises Vincenzo Montella.

The Rossoneri are joint-second in Serie A, and can close the gap to the top to just two points if they beat Juventus in Turin tomorrow.

“Milan are in good shape, while Juventus are the team to beat because they’ve strengthened and they’ve won five Scudetti in a row,” Gattuso told Sky.

Gattuso: ‘Berlusconi was my doping’

Rino Gattuso says Milan President Silvio Berlusconi “was my doping” and invites him to join him at Pisa.

The Rossoneri patron turns 80 today, and has been receiving good wishes from former players and Coaches as he prepares to sell the club.

Gattuso, now Coach at Pisa, won two Champions League and two Scudetti as the Diavolo’s midfield enforcer, and he also discussed the former Prime Minister.

“We always had a great relationship, Berlusconi was my doping,” Gattuso told Gazzetta dello Sport.

Gattuso: Milan legends must return

Gennaro Gattuso is hoping speculation linking Paolo Maldini and Demetrio Albertini with Milan returns bears fruition “because they’re needed”.

Gattuso’s role as Pisa Coach rules him out of a quick return to Milan, but he is backing his former teammates to restore the “organisational” order that has been missing at the club “in recent years”.
