Montella: 'Fiorentina are masochists'

Vincenzo Montella called on Fiorentina fans to stop their protest after a defeat to Milan, because “otherwise we’re masochists.”

The Viola suffered a fifth consecutive defeat, have scored one goal in their last six Serie A games and are without a win in 12 rounds.

“We don’t have the mental strength to play for 90 minutes, especially with the tense situation in the city. At the first sign of difficulty, we melt away and lose all the elements we need to play football.

Vieira new option for Milan

Nice boss Patrick Vieira has emerged as another new contender to replace Gennaro Gattuso at Milan next season.

According to Rai Sport, the Rossoneri have set their sights on the Frenchman, even if Eusebio Di Francesco remains the favourite.

The 42-year-old tactician is certainly no stranger to Serie A, having played for Milan in 1995-96, then Juventus in 2005-06 and Inter until January 2010.

His management career began in the Manchester City youth academy, moving on to NYCFC in MLS and since this season Ligue 1 club Nice.

Gattuso: Milan don't need motivating

Gennaro Gattuso insists Milan have not needed to draw inspiration from Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool in the Champions League.

The two English clubs staged historic comebacks to reach the Champions League Final, but Gattuso made it clear Milan were already fired up to finish in Serie A’s top four.

“There was no need to see the comebacks in the Champions League to understand that we must never give up,” he said at a Press conference for Saturday’s game against Fiorentina.

Why do Milan always bring the drama?

The Rossoneri beat Bologna, but the drama-filled affair was a microcosm of the 2018-19 season under Gennaro Gattuso, writes Matthew Santangelo.

For better or for worse, it has been yet another headline-grabbing, drama-packed soap opera season for Gennaro Gattuso and his Milan, with as many ups as downs.

Although three matches remain for the Rossoneri to reverse their fortunes once and for all, and secure Champions League football through a fourth-place finish, this entire season will be very difficult to put into words when the dust settles.

Leonardo on Bakayoko and 'investment'

Milan director Leonardo promised Tiemoue Bakayoko will be “dealt with in-house” and warned fans “there won’t be any big investments.”

The pair then exchanged ugly words on the touchline, with the Chelsea-owned midfielder visibly swearing at his Coach.
