Calhanoglu and Borini injury updates

Hakan Calhanoglu and Fabio Borini are in doubt for Milan to face Benevento, but Lucas Biglia, Davide Calabria and Ignazio Abate return.

This will be the Rossoneri’s first match under new Coach Gennaro Gattuso after Vincenzo Montella was sacked on Monday morning.

Biglia missed the 0-0 draw with Torino with flu symptoms, but has now recovered, while Calabria and Abate are also back in full training with the rest of the season.

Borini skipped that match with a left ankle injury and it will be monitored on a daily basis.

Milan problems beyond Montella

The Rossoneri were right to fire their Coach, but Gaby McKay still sees no clarity within the chaotic club.

Vincenzo Montella can have few complaints after being fired by Milan yesterday.

After taking Fiorentina to three fourth-place finishes in a row and an admirable rescue job at Sampdoria, his first season as Rossoneri Coach was a qualified success.

Gattuso: ‘Bonucci is my captain’

Gennaro Gattuso confirms “the Milan captain is Leonardo Bonucci and will remain Bonucci”, and sees some of himself in Franck Kessié.

Bonucci joined the Rossoneri from Juventus this summer, and immediately replaced Riccardo Montolivo as captain.

With some poor performances from the centre-back so far, some have suggested the armband should be taken away but the new Coach has no intention of making such a change.

“The captain is Bonucci and will remain Bonucci,” Gattuso said in his presentation Press conference today.
