Sacchi: ‘Napoli can cope without Milik’

Arrigo Sacchi believes Napoli can cope without Arkadiusz Milik, and advises Juventus on winning in Europe.

The former Milan Coach won two European Cups with the Rossoneri, and his rise to the top has been compared with that of Partenopei Coach Maurizio Sarri.

“Will the title race be over without Milik? No, because the team matters more than the individual,” Sarri told La Stampa.

Sacchi: ‘Napoli spent well but…’

Arrigo Sacchi praises Napoli’s transfer campaign, but warns they must learn to win ugly like Juventus.

The Partenopei sold Gonzalo Higuain to the Bianconeri this summer, and have reinvested the money in the likes of Arkadiusz Milik, Nikola Maksimovic and Amadou Diawara.

“Napoli have invested €123m, they haven’t spent like Juventus, Napoli have bought players who can mature further,” Sacchi explained on Radio Crc.

Sacchi hails Berlusconi ‘democracy’

Arrigo Sacchi has hailed the “democracy” he shared with Silvio Berlusconi at Milan and the “autonomy” he was given as Coach.

Sacchi argued his defence of Berlusconi in the face of accusations that he was hands-on behind the scenes by explaining how he overruled the President over former Argentina midfielder Claudio Borghi during the 1987-88 season.

“I didn’t agree because Borghi had trained with us and I knew he was a bad professional,” he continued to Gazzetta dello Sport.

Sacchi: Berlu changed my life

Legendary Coach Arrigo Sacchi claims he would never have been successful at Milan without birthday boy Silvio Berlusconi, who “changed my life”.

Sacchi won a Serie A title and back-to-back European cups with Milan in his first spell between 1987 and 1991, and in tribute to Berlusconi on his 80th birthday, Sacchi revisited the first time he spoke to the President and how they forged one of football’s most fearsome partnerships.

Sacchi: ‘Totti like Michael Jordan’

Arrigo Sacchi reveals he wanted to sign Francesco Totti twice during his career and compares the Roma talisman to Michael Jordan.

Tributes have been flooding in for the Giallorossi captain, who made his first senior appearance for the club in 1993 and turns 40 on Tuesday.

“A boy of extraordinary quality,” former Milan boss Sacchi said when asked to sum up Totti. “I have always liked him. When I went back to Milan after being with the national team, I tried to sign him.

Grazie, Berlusconi

After 30 years of glory and hurt, Milan fans must thank Silvio Berlusconi, writes Susy Campanale.

When a relationship comes to an end, it’s easy to remember only the last moments when it was all falling apart and even let that cloud your memories of the good times. Silvio Berlusconi and Milan are calling it quits, so it’s the right time to focus on the happy decades together.

Sacchi evaluates Serie A teams

Arrigo Sacchi says Roma are second to Juventus, Napoli have the best Coach, Inter have good ideas and Milan are a dark horse.

The reverend Italian Coach believes that the Old Lady is the undiscussed favourite to win the Scudetto, but the other teams have many qualities not to be taken lightly.

“Who do I see behind Juve? Roma,” Sacchi told La Gazzetta dello Sport. “[Coach Luciano] Spalletti is very good and very knowledgeable.

Sacchi: 'Juve a decade ahead'

Arrigo Sacchi agrees with the view that Juventus have booked the next Scudetto: 'They are 10 years ahead of their competitors'.

The Bianconeri followed a striking and often not very popular strategy of stealing the best players from their direct opponents this summer, and as a result they now seem the only credible candidate for the championship.

Sacchi: 'De Boer a question mark'

Arrigo Sacchi speaks out on Serie A newcomer Frank De Boer: 'I like him a lot, but Inter right now are a giant question mark'.

The Dutchman was picked up by the Nerazzurri to start a new cycle, and the former Milan tactician, who famously studied the Orange's total football closely, offered an initial assessment.

“I know De Boer well and I like him a lot,” Sacchi told Il Corriere della Sera. “He likes to cultivate an open game and with Ajax he managed to win without huge budgets.

Sacchi backs iconic Milan directors

Arrigo Sacchi backs the idea of bringing former players in as Milan's directors and comments on Paolo Maldini, Billy Costacurta and Demetrio Albertini.

The three players are being linked to the Rossoneri as they may be re-employed as technical staff and advisors, although for the moment this is more of an idea than a project.
