Sacchi: 'Balo lacking intelligence'

Arrigo Sacchi criticised Italy for their performance against Poland, singling out Mario Balotelli as an example of lacking “intelligence.”

The Azzurri recovered from a Piotr Zielinski opener with a Jorginho penalty for the 1-1 Nations League opener and will face Portugal in Lisbon on Monday evening.

“I’d say that it’s a team sport. You need only a few ideas in football, but they have to be clear,” Sacchi told Radio Deejay.

Sacchi: ‘Mancini can’t do it alone’

Arrigo Sacchi insists “it’s too much” for Roberto Mancini “to overturn the world alone”, including a bizarre reference to Benito Mussolini.

Italy make their Nations League bow under Mancio against Poland tomorrow, and the former CT spoke to QS-Sport about the state of the national team.

“There was another time that Italy appealed to a man of destiny,” Sacchi began.

Milan's chain of command

It feels like a very long time since Carlo Ancelotti had Milan at the top of world football, writes Matthew Santangelo.

Solely based on the fact Milan’s bench has been a revolving door in recent years as they search for much-needed stability, it feels like an age ago when the likes of Arrigo Sacchi or Carlo Ancelotti roamed Milanello as the skipper of a perennial European powerhouse.

Sacchi: ‘Italy need planning’

Arrigo Sacchi believes Roberto Mancini can improve Italy but “as long as the Federation doesn’t improve, it won’t do any good”.

The legendary tactician is himself a former Azzurri CT, and he spoke about the national team in his interview with Corriere della Sera.

“It won’t be easy,” Sacchi warned.

“There was only one in Italy who tried to fix things alone, and look how that ended. Mancini can do his bit, but as long as the Federation doesn’t improve, it won’t do any good.

Sacchi: ‘Milan can win the Scudetto’

Legendary Coach Arrigo Sacchi declares “Milan can win the Scudetto”, even if Juventus are “super-favourites”.

The Rossoneri appear more stable both on and off the pitch, having been taken over by Elliott Management and signed the likes of Mattia Caldara, Gonzalo Higuain and Pepe Reina.

“I’ll repeat what I said half an hour ago to my beach neighbour here at Milano Marittima: Milan can win the Scudetto,” Sacchi began, speaking to Corriere della Sera.

Sacchi has Ronaldo ‘doubt’

Legendary Coach Arrigo Sacchi admits he has a ‘doubt’ over Cristiano Ronaldo’s transfer to Juventus – the dressing room.

Sacchi once attacked Ronaldo for his lack of form with Madrid towards the end of the 2014-15 campaign, and the former Milan and Italy boss again expressed reservations about the No 7 after he became Juve’s record signing.

Sarri, Sacchi and Guardiola get-together

Maurizio Sarri, Pep Guardiola and Arrigo Sacchi are no doubt discussing the beautiful game as they vacation in the same Italian resort.

All three tacticians posed for the camera of the Perla Verde Hotel’s Instagram account in Milano Marittima.

Sarri earned plaudits – none more so than from Manchester City boss Guardiola and Milan legend Sacchi – for his work at Napoli this season.

Yet he was sacked to make way for Carlo Ancelotti and is currently waiting to see if he’ll take the Chelsea job.

Sacchi: ‘Sarri’s Napoli the best’

Legendary former Milan Coach Arrigo Sacchi calls Maurizio Sarri’s Napoli “the most important thing seen in Italy in the last 20 years”.

Sarri failed to win a trophy in his three seasons with the Partenopei, and has already been replaced by Carlo Ancelotti, but the former Italy CT is still full of praise.

“[Pep] Guardiola’s [Manchester] City and Sarri’s Napoli say more than the whole rest of the world,” Sacchi told La Repubblica.

Sacchi: ‘Allegri can’t win in Europe’

Legendary Milan Coach Arrigo Sacchi says Juventus’ Max Allegri “can’t be challenged” but warns “his way of playing isn’t the way to win in Europe”.

The Bianconeri have won the Scudetto for a seventh season in a row, with Allegri on the bench for four of those.

The Tuscan has also won the Coppa Italia in each of his four seasons, but Sacchi doesn’t feel this Juve can compare to his Diavolo.

“Juventus play an Italian style of football,” Sacchi said on Radio 24.

Sacchi: ‘Sarri’s Napoli a masterpiece’

Arrigo Sacchi heaps praise on Maurizio Sarri ahead of the Juventus game - “Napoli have already won, what this team has done will be remembered”.

The Partenopei are four points behind the Bianconeri at the top of Serie A, but can close that gap to a point with a win in Turin on Sunday night.

“It’s a clash between a club with the financial power of Juventus, who bought Napoli’s best player [Gonzalo Higuain], but also the strength of their squad and the talent of their Coach [Max Allegri],” Sacchi said on Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli.
