Zoff: 'Buffon is the best'

Dino Zoff is glad he was “beaten by the best” after Gigi Buffon and Juventus surpassed his Serie A record.

The 1982 World Cup winner now has only the third longest top flight clean sheet streak at 903 minutes, as last night Buffon took his run to 926 minutes of football.

With four minutes against Torino next week, Buffon will break the all-time record set by Sebastiano Rossi at Milan.

Sportiello: 'Roma? Just fantasy'

Atalanta goalkeeper Marco Sportiello plays down rumours of a transfer to Roma: 'It's just fantasy football'.

The 23-year-old shot-stopper had been linked to a mercato tussle between the Giallorossi and Bournemouth, but he disclaimed it in an interview with Sky Sports Italia.

“Me at Roma? It's fantasy football,” he declared. “I said I would have liked to wear their colours, but it was a joke.

Bournemouth-Roma for Sportiello?

Bournemouth reportedly made an offer for Atalanta goalkeeper Marco Sportiello, already targeted by Roma.

The 23-year-old had been targeted by the Giallorossi as a replacement for aging Morgan De Sanctis and on-loan Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny.

It seems they will have to contend with some competition from the Premier League as Calciomercato.it reports of an interest by Bournemouth.

The English club allegedly made an initial offer of €8/9m.

Bournemouth ask after Sportiello

Premier League side Bournemouth have reportedly approached Atalanta for goalkeeper Marco Sportiello.

The 23-year-old has saved three out of four penalties faced in Serie A this season.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, he has caught the eye of Bournemouth and they made enquiries.

However, it seems to be an unlikely transfer, as Atalanta want at least €10m for Sportiello.

The goalkeeper is also unconvinced by the option, having been linked with a future at Roma.

Sportiello set for Roma

Marco Sportiello of Atalanta is reportedly the goalkeeper Roma have lined up for next season.

Wojciech Szczesny has said many times he wants a return to Arsenal after the season-long loan.

This week Roma director Walter Sabatini also confirmed they are “covered” for next term, but wouldn’t name names.

According to the Corriere dello Sport, the goalkeeper they have lined up is Atalanta’s Sportiello.

An Italy Under-21 international, Sportiello is a Serie A regular and particularly strong on penalties.
