EDF to bring Sassuolo duo to Roma?

Reports suggest that Eusebio Di Francesco will bring players from current club Sassuolo to Roma should he be appointed Coach.

After various media outlets have suggested that the former Giallorossi player is about to be appointed by the capital club, Leggo reports that there will be two new arrivals from Reggio Emilia.

Defrel to Roma still on?

Gregoire Defrel’s agent admits talks with Roma “sank” in January but will not rule out a second round of negotiations in the summer.

Speaking to Romanews on Monday, Giampiero Pocetta acknowledged it would be difficult for Roma to revive their winter deal for Defrel but hinted the Frenchman would leave Sassuolo if the Giallorossi maintained their interest.

 “The negotiations with Roma sank, the transfer market is made of moments, but maybe in the future anything is possible,” explained the representative.

EDF: 'Results are coming'

Eusebio Di Francesco says Sassuolo are now getting the results their displays this season have deserved.

The Neroverdi endured a torried first half to the campaign, ravaged by injuries and struggling for form.

However, today's 2-1 victory over Udinese was their fourth win in six Serie A matches, reviving hopes of a top-half finish.

"Now the results are coming too," Di Francesco told reporters after his team's comeback triumph. "Maybe on other occasions we played well, but we got less than what we deserved.

Sassuolo suffer Defrel injury

Sassuolo have lost star striker Gregoire Defrel for tomorrow’s match with Genoa and it’s not clear when he’ll be back.

It kicks off on Sunday at 14.00 GMT, click here for a match preview.

“Defrel won’t be there because of a knee problem he has been dealing with for quite a while,” said Coach Eusebio Di Francesco.

“We decided to rest him and let him focus on treatment so he can recover fully.”

‘Sassuolo rejected big Defrel bid’

Sassuolo general manager Giovanni Carnevali claims the Neroverdi “have just rejected €30m” from an unnamed club for striker Gregoire Defrel.

Roma are thought to be the club Carnevali was referring to in bidding for Defrel, although the executive made it clear Sassuolo were in no need to raise funds.

“We’ve just refused €30m for Defrel,” he told Corriere dello Sport.

'Roma, forget Defrel and Pellegrini'

Sassuolo chief Giovanni Carnevali confessed “Roma asked us for Gregoire Defrel and Lorenzo Pellegrini, but it’s not happening.”

The Giallorossi made no secret of their interest in French wide forward Defrel, who is valued at €25m.

Pellegrini is a Roma youth team player and as part of his deal, the Capital club have an option to buy him back at the end of the season for €8m.

“We met Roma this morning,” Sassuolo director general Giovanni Carnevali told Sky Sport Italia.

Roma rush to sell Paredes?

There are rapidly growing reports Roma will sell Leandro Paredes next week, as Watford, Everton and Juventus join Liverpool, Arsenal and Tottenham in the race.

The 22-year-old Argentine midfielder is surplus to requirements now that Coach Luciano Spalletti has changed system.

The club therefore sees him as an opportunity to cash in, therefore able to bring in Godfred Donsah from Bologna and Sassuolo’s Gregoire Defrel.

‘Defrel? Sassuolo don’t have to sell…’

Sassuolo President Giorgio Squinzi warns they “have no need” to sell Gregoire Defrel to Roma.

The Giallorossi have been trying to bring the forward in on loan with an obligation to buy, but so far there has been no breakthrough in the talks.

“Our aim is to keep all of our best players, Defrel included,” Squinzi insisted, speaking to Tuttomercatoweb.

Defrel close to Roma

Reports suggest Sassuolo’s Gregoire Defrel will join Roma, for €15m plus two players in exchange.

The capital club have been in talks with the Neroverdi for the French forward this week, but progress on a deal has been slow.

The Emilian side value Defrel at €25m, a fee the Lupi have no intention of paying in January.

However, this morning’s Gazzetta dello Sport is reporting a breakthrough in the deal, as the Giallorossi cannot go without a reinforcement.

Matri: 'Sassuolo don't envy big clubs'

Alessandro Matri believes that an 'organised Sassuolo' have 'no reason to envy the biggest clubs' in Serie A.

The 32-year-old has scored five goals in total this term, four of those coming in the last two matches. Why has it taken so long for the striker to hit form?

"I arrived on August 15th without having made adequate preparation with Milan," Matri explained during an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport.
