Papu: Rejected Lazio & Saudis

Atalanta captain Alejandro Gomez has revealed that he rejected offers from Lazio and Saudi Arabia to stay in Bergamo.

Gomez marked his fifth season at Atalanta with qualification for the Champions League, and he owed much of the credit for their achievement to Coach Gian Piero Gasperini.

“Since his arrival, Gasperini has given Atalanta a winning mentality,” the forward told Sky Sport Italia.

Duvan Zapata: 'Silverware with Atalanta'

Duvan Zapata has been linked with Inter and Napoli, but insists he is “dreaming of lifting a trophy with Atalanta. I want to stay here.”

The Colombia international was runner-up in the Capocannoniere charts with 23 Serie A goals, plus five between the Coppa Italia and Europa League preliminary rounds.

“I am dreaming of lifting a trophy with Atalanta,” he told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

'Atalanta owe it all to Gasperini'

Atalanta ace Alejandro Gomez has paid tribute to Coach Gian Piero Gasperini. “Without him, none of this would’ve happened.”

Atalanta have gone from relegation battlers to European challengers and Coppa Italia finalists in their three years under Gasperini, with Gomez witnessing the Dea’s rise first-hand.

“There has been a change from everyone, starting with the club,” the forward said at a Press conference for Wednesday’s cup decider against Lazio.
