Official: Dabo joins SPAL

SPAL have officially signed midfielder Bryan Dabo from Fiorentina, on loan with option to buy at the end of the season.

The Burkina Faso international turns 28 next month and had joined the Viola from Saint-Etienne for €3m in January 2018.

His previous clubs are Montpellier and Blackburn Rovers.

Dabo was not part of Fiorentina’s plans for this term and had not made a single appearance in 2019-20.

He leaves after 36 competitive games for the Tuscans, in which he scored two goals.

Fiorentina boss Beppe Iachini isn't underestimating his side's victory over SPAL. "They beat Torino a few weeks ago, and also Lazio."

The Viola beat the Ferrara outfit 1-0 at the Stadio Artemio Franchi thanks to a goal from German Pezzella, and new coach Iachini has now won four points from his first two games.

Semplici: 'SPAL deserved more'

Leonardo Semplici felt SPAL “would’ve been disappointed with a draw, let alone defeat” to Fiorentina, as they wasted too many chances.

The Spallini remain bottom of the table at the halfway stage of the season, but had arguably the better chances at the Stadio Franchi, only to be beaten by a German Pezzella header.

“If you miss that many scoring opportunities, then it becomes difficult to get a positive result,” confessed Semplici to Sky Sport Italia.

Defender German Pezzella’s header was the difference this afternoon, ending an eight-round winless streak in Serie A.

“We won, but I was really scared, as always,” confessed Commisso to Rai Sport at the Stadio Franchi.
