Rastelli: 'We could have got more'

Massimo Rastelli believes it would not have been unfair if Cagliari had snatched a draw in their defeat to Udinese.

Two goals in the final 20 minutes condemned the Sardi to a loss against the Bianconeri, despite a late consolation effort by Marco Borriello.

Speaking after the final whistle at the Stadio Friuli, the tactician lamented his team's 'lack of incision' in the final third despite a good performance in other areas.

"The boys did everything well, we just lacked incision in the final third," Rastelli explained.

Rastelli option for Fiorentina

Cagliari Coach Massimo Rastelli has emerged as the latest candidate to replace Paulo Sousa on the Fiorentina bench.

The Viola have been linked with numerous tacticians, above all Sassuolo boss Eusebio Di Francesco.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, Rastelli is being considered by director of sport Pantaleo Corvino.

Rastelli took on the Cagliari job in June 2015 and took them to promotion from Serie B, then secured comfortable top-flight safety.

Rastelli rues Borriello knock

Massimo Rastelli felt the game got away from Cagliari with Marco Borriello’s injury and they never wrested it back off Torino.

Borriello had given them the lead from the penalty spot, but limped off as Adem Ljajic and Andrea Belotti turned it around for an eventual 3-2 victory.

Rastelli: 'Cagliari deserved victory'

Massimo Rastelli insists Cagliari fully deserved their 3-1 victory away to Palermo. “We were the only team playing in the second half.”

The Sicilians had taken the lead through Giancarlo Gonzalez, who was offside, but Marco Borriello and an Artur Ionita brace turned it around.

“Today was a dangerous game and in psychological terms we had everything to lose,” the Coach told Radio Rai.

Rastelli: 'Undeserved Cagliari loss'

Cagliari Coach Massimo Rastelli inevitably feels regret after an “undeserved” defeat to Fiorentina, but ultimately rues missed opportunities.

Nikola Kalinic’s free header from six yards decided the match in stoppages at the Stadio Franchi.

“It was a fine performance and if we had won I don’t think anyone could’ve complained,” said Rastelli.

Rastelli: '5-1 harsh on Cagliari'

Massimo Rastelli admits Cagliari deserved to lose to Inter, although he insists the 5-1 scoreline was harsh.

Having fallen two goals down in the first half, the Sardinians gave themselves hope of a comeback by halving the deficit before half time, only to collapse to a heavy defeat in the second period.

"5-1 is an exaggerated result, especially with the chances we had in the first half," Rastelli said at the Stadio Sant'Elia.

Cagliari missing "big" victory

Massimo Rastelli wants Cagliari to claim the 'big' scalp that has eluded them this season when they face Inter.

The Sardinian side have fared well on their return to Serie A, sitting in twelfth place and with survival already virtually guaranteed.

Nerazzurri counterpart Stefano Pioli has passed on his congratulations for the job Rastelli has done this campaign, but the 48-year-old is determined for his side to secure a high-profile victory.

Rastelli: 'An important step'

Massimo Rastelli labels Cagliari's 2-1 win over Crotone as 'an important step' for his team.

Goals by Joao Pedro and Marco Borriello gave the Sardi a second away victory of the season, a result which virtually guarantees their place in Serie A for another year.

"We have taken an important step towards safety," Rastelli told reporters. "It was important to win and not give any hope of a revival to Crotone, who played very well today.

Rastelli: 'If we win, we're safe'

Massimo Rastelli believes Cagliari's safety will be guaranteed if they beat Crotone today.

The Sardi lie 14 points clear of the drop zone and have never looked in danger of a relegation fight in their first season back in Serie A.

Speaking ahead of his team's match at Crotone, the Coach praised his opponents' attitude and warned his players to expect a difficult atmosphere at the Stadio Ezio Scida.
