Rastelli happy with home form

Cagliari Coach Massimo Rastelli is pleased with his side’s home form following the 2-1 win over Crotone.

The Sardinians have now taken ten points from four Serie A games at Stadio Sant’Elia, leaving the newly-promoted club in ninth place heading into the international break.

“It is a good haul at home, we hope to do it away from home as well,” Rastelli told reporters after victory over the League’s bottom club.

“Today it was important to win and we did it. It was a difficult and even game.

Joao Pedro suffers fracture

Bad news for Cagliari, as trequartista Joao Pedro is set for a lengthy lay-off after fracturing his fibula.

The incident occurred during today’s training session as the team prepared for Sunday’s match with Crotone.

“It was a simple collision during exercises on set plays and he fell awkwardly,” explained Coach Massimo Rastelli.

“It’s a terrible blow for us, as he is a player who is simply irreplaceable.”

Rastelli: ‘Deserved Cagliari win’

Massimo Rastelli hails a “great performance” from Cagliari, and defends his change of captaincy.

The Isolani secured a dramatic 2-1 victory over Sampdoria tonight, conceding a late equaliser but then winning thanks to an Emiliano Viviano howler.

“It was a great performance,” Rastelli told Sky after the match.

“That’s what I asked from the lads, this was a crucial game and we knew it. My lads controlled the match, and it would have been a sin if we hadn’t taken the three points.

Rastelli hopes for positive atmosphere

‘Cagliari have nothing to lose’

Massimo Rastelli tells his Cagliari players they have “nothing to lose” when they visit Juventus tomorrow.

The Sardinians face the Bianconeri in Turin tomorrow night, with the Isolani having thrashed Atalanta at the weekend while Juve lost at Inter.

“It’s a one-off game, anything can happen,” Rastelli pointed out in his pre-match Press conference.



“We have nothing to lose. We’ll try to play against a team of great players who have won the last five Scudetti.

Rastelli: 'Sardinians proud of Cagliari'

Cagliari Coach Massimo Rastelli is “happy” with their transfer strategy and said “Sardinians should be proud of this team.”

They were promoted top of the Serie B table last season and had a good start to their campaign, holding Roma to a 2-2 draw.

Cagliari new boys hold Hamburger

Serie A new boys Cagliari impressed in a 1-1 draw with Hamburger SV, as Marco Borriello, Bruno Alves and Mauricio Isla made their debuts.

Veteran striker Borriello blasted over before Diego Farias was brought down by Ostrzolek for a penalty that he also converted.

The German goal was also from the spot, as Marco Storari was penalised for a foul on Cleber and Aaron Hunt equalised.

Isla only completed his transfer from Juventus yesterday, but came off the bench to the acclaim of the fans for the final 18 minutes at the Stadio Sant’Elia.
