Milan to issue €123m bond

Reports suggest Milan will issue a €123m bond, underwritten by the US hedge fund which bankrolled the takeover of the club.

Yonghong Li and his Rossoneri Sport Investment Lux group completed their purchase of the club from Silvio Berlusconi earlier this month.

Now financial website il Sole 24 Ore reveals that a €123m bond will be issued by the club in Vienna, underwritten by Elliott.

Of that figure, €73m will go toward repaying Italian debts to Italian banks including BancoBpm, Intesa Sanpaolo, Unicredit, Cariparma and others.

Vincenzo Montella is “getting to know” the new Milan directors after the takeover and “I see everything we need to do well.”

“We went to see a game together as part of the process of getting to know each other,” said the Coach in today’s Press conference.

The centre-back forced a 97th-minute equaliser over the line in last Saturday’s Derby della Madonnina, completing a Rossoneri comeback from 2-0 down.

“I don’t even know how I got it, I just saw the ball coming in,” Zapata explained to Milan TV.

“Maybe I got it with my shin, a bit of my foot… a bit of everything. These are the games where you fight more and I was fired-up.

Montella's the Man

As Vincenzo Montella starts talks with new owners, Adam Summerton argues L’Aeroplanino has already proved himself ready to take Milan to the next level.

The completion of Milan’s protracted takeover must have been a huge relief to Vincenzo Montella. Whether he’ll miss regular phone calls from Silvio Berlusconi or not I really don’t know, but I can be certain that he’ll be glad to see the back of the uncertainty and speculation that surrounded the club’s future even before he became Coach last summer.

Milan Derby sells Serie A

There may have been controversy over the kick-off time, but Gaby McKay says the Derby della Madonnina was a tremendous advert for Serie A.

The decision to move the Milan derby to 12.30 local time didn’t go down well in all sectors. Keen to capitalise on the Chinese market with both Inter and Milan owned by investors from the Orient, the Lega Serie A decided on a kick-off that would guarantee prime-time in Asia.
