Inzaghi: 'Milan confidence-booster'

Pippo Inzaghi believes the 2-0 win over Cesena can be the performance Milan needed to boost confidence.

“We’re happy, but we’ve done nothing yet. I wanted us to win with a good performance to give the players more confidence and I think we’ve done that today,” he told Sky Sport Italia.

“Clearly we need to win two or three in a row to get properly back on track, but this is a good start.”

Milan have De Jong and Destro

Nigel de Jong and Mattia Destro are back for Milan’s encounter with Empoli.

De Jong has shaken off an injury to bolster the midfield, while Destro has completed his one-round ban.

Berlusconi: 'Young Italian Milan'

President Silvio Berlusconi is “happy” Mattia Destro arrived and wants “a young Italian Milan, preferably from our academy.”

The patron made his now traditional Friday afternoon visit via helicopter to the Milanello training ground, where he spoke to the squad and Coach Pippo Inzaghi.

“Italian, young, preferably internationals and preferably from our academy. That’s the Milan I want,” Berlusconi told Milan Channel.

“It requires a bit of patience.”

Milan: ‘No Inzaghi ultimatum’

Milan’s joint-CEO Adriano Galliani denies that Coach Filippo Inzaghi has been told he must take the side to the Champions League this season.

It has been reported that the Coach will be dismissed should the Rossoneri fail to qualify for Europe’s top club competition this season, with Vincenzo Montella touted as a possible replacement.

However, at a Press event to present the club’s various new signings, Galliani insisted there had been no such declaration.

Destro: ‘Milan perfect club for me’

Mattia Destro says that Milan is the ‘perfect club’ at which to prove himself after joining from Roma.

The Italian international has moved to the Rossoneri on loan with the option of making the deal permanent in the summer, and was officially presented today.

“Milan are Milan, there was no convincing needed,” the striker told assembled media.

“I want to do well, and this is the perfect place to do it.

Sabatini: ‘Destro was unhappy’

Roma director Walter Sabatini defends the sale of Mattia Destro saying the player was 'unhappy', and expects Seydou Doumbia to be 'prolific'.

The Giallorossi are under heavy criticism at the moment for their increasingly inconsistent form, epitomised by the 2-0 defeat to Fiorentina which saw them crash out of the Coppa Italia yesterday evening.

The main man behind the Lupi's recent transfer actions, acknowledged that the delay in carrying out some of his work may have had something to do with the poor results.

Doumbia, Ibarbo in Roma list

Roma include new signings Seydou Doumbia and Victor Ibarbo in their list of players for the UEFA Europa League.

The Giallorossi have today released the UEFA list of their players that will take part in the knockout stages of the 2014-15 Europa League.

Injured Kevin Strootman is not part of the squad, nor are the recent departures Mattia Destro and Marco Borriello. Doumbia and Ibarbo will replace them.

Fellow new arrival Nicolas Spolli is also included in the selection.

Pjanic avoids 'punch' ban

Miralem Pjanic escaped punishment for an apparent punch on Mario Rui because “the images are not conclusive.”

The Roma midfielder seemed to rabbit punch the Empoli defender in the ribs during an off the ball incident.

It was caught only on one camera angle from quite a distance and the footage started from the end of the incident.

Today the Disciplinary Commission confirmed it would not be taking action because “the images are not conclusive.”
