Mascara: Napoli is beautiful

Giuseppe Mascara, whose goal set up a precious 2-0 victory in Bologna, thinks there is nothing more beautiful in Serie A than Napoli.

The Partenopei laid down the gauntlet to League leaders Milan on Sunday afternoon and remain three points behind with six games of the season remaining.

"I was very happy," Mascara said. "It's a special kind of happiness because I was aware that until now I hadn't given what I know I can give.

Hamsik hails Napoli supporters

Napoli midfielder Marek Hamsik has praised the club's supporters for travelling in numbers for Sunday's match against Bologna.

Around 15,000 Napoli fans made the trip to the Renato Dall'Ara, accounting for nearly half its capacity.

Napoli won 2-0 thanks to goals from Giuseppe Mascara and Hamsik, who scored from the penalty spot.

Walter Mazzarri's side remain very much in the title race. Napoli are three points behind League leaders Milan with six games of the season remaining.

Reja: 'Mazzarri not a gentleman'

Edy Reja aimed a sideswipe at Napoli Coach Walter Mazzarri, as “he is not a gentleman,” but tried to focus Lazio on their test with Parma.

The Biancocelesti are still smarting after their 4-3 defeat in Naples last week and Reja hasn't forgiven his opponents for post-match comments.

“I have a different way of dealing with victory. Mazzarri is a great Coach, which is obvious from his results, but in terms of his personality it's safe to say he is not a gentleman.

Line-ups: Lavezzi leads Napoli

Ezequiel Lavezzi has been pushed into Edinson Cavani's centre-forward role as Napoli continue their Scudetto challenge in Bologna.

The Vesuviani need a victory to keep up with leaders Milan and retake second from Inter, who won on Saturday.

Capocannoniere Cavani is suspended, so Lavezzi is moved into his more advanced position, supported by Marek Hamsik and Giuseppe Mascara.

Gianluca Grava and Bologna's Gyorgy Garics are the only long-term injury absentees.

Mazzarri: 'It's nice up here...'

Walter Mazzarri's Napoli are temporarily top of the table awaiting Milan. “The view is nice from up here,” grinned the Coach.

The Vesuviani conquered Bologna's Stadio Dall'Ara 2-0 despite the ban for Capocannoniere Edinson Cavani, who was celebrating wildly in the stands.

They are joint top with leaders Milan, who travel to Fiorentina in the 19.45 UK time kick-off this evening.

De Laurentiis: 'Napoli has to dream'

Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis is not pulling back from his Scudetto ambitions. “This city needs to dream and be reborn.”

The Partenopei went joint top after today's 2-0 win at Bologna, although leaders Milan must play Fiorentina this evening.

“We aren't exactly top of the table, as we have to wait for tonight's result,” noted the patron on Rai Sport.

“As for the Scudetto, dreams help us to live better. Naples is a city that needs to dream and be reborn.

Mazzarri: 'Napoli can win title'

Walter Mazzarri admits Napoli are now targeting the Scudetto. “We are going beyond all expectations and anything can happen now.”

The Coach had until now been careful not to mention a title push, but after leap-frogging Inter to go into second place, just three points shy of leaders Milan, he cannot resist it any longer.

“We are going beyond all expectations and anything can happen now,” he told television show Chiambretti Night.

“We will try to go as high as possible and then see where we are at the end of the season.

Mazzarri: 'People fear Napoli'

Walter Mazzarri is in bullish mood as Napoli battle for the Scudetto. “We are not liked because people fear us.”

The Coach has a famously brusque manner with players, colleagues and journalists, earning a reputation as something of a tricky character.

“In my view a winning Coach is someone who hits his targets year after year, based on the squad at his disposal. You cannot judge a tactician without looking at his players.

Vicini believes in Napoli

Former Italy boss Azeglio Vicini has warned Milan to not underestimate Napoli in the Scudetto race.

The Rossoneri took a massive step towards the title with a 3-0 win over rivals Inter last weekend, but the second-placed Azzurri are just three points behind the San Siro giants.

"The distance between Milan and Napoli is small," Vicini, who bossed Italy at Euro '88 and Italia '90, stated.

"Napoli need to continue doing well, but they still have a very good chance of taking the Scudetto," he added.
