‘Giampaolo demands high’

Lucas Torreira praises Sampdoria boss Marco Giampaolo as the main reason behind his side’s success.

Torreira: 'Derby della Lanterna separate'

Sampdoria midfielder Lucas Torreira warns the Derby della Lanterna is “separate from the rest” of the season against off-form Genoa.

Torreira 'already spoke to three clubs'

Lucas Torreira “would be perfect for Luciano Spalletti’s Inter. We’ve already spoken to two Italian clubs and one abroad,” said the Sampdoria midfielder’s agent.

The Uruguayan talent has been heavily linked with Inter, Juventus, Roma and above all Atletico Madrid.

“Torreira is simply confirming what he did during his first Serie A season,” agent Pablo Bentancur told FCInter1908.

“I don’t know for sure if Spalletti likes him, but I have no doubts Lucas would be perfect for his tactics at Inter.

Samp: Torreira going nowhere

Sampdoria have made it clear that Lucas Torreira will not be leaving the club in January. “He’s a treasure for us…”

Atletico Madrid had reportedly agreed a €40m deal to sign Torreira in January, but Samp’s lawyer poured scorn on the claim and assured the midfielder would spend the rest of the season at Marassi.

“Clauses? We won’t talk about them,” Antonio Romei told Telenord.

Atleti agree €40m Torreira deal?

Atletico Madrid have reportedly reached an agreement in principle to sign Sampdoria midfielder Lucas Torreira for €40m in January.

According to Goal.com, Atleti have acted quickly to bring in Torreira after his impressive start to the season with Samp.

If so, the Uruguayan would constitute a record sale for the Blucerchiati as Roma paid an initial €32m for Czeck striker Patrik Schick.

‘Samp to keep squad, Giampaolo…’

Sampdoria’s sporting director insists their squad “will stay together until at least June” and hopes “our next coup can be keeping Marco Giampaolo.”

Giampaolo has won rave reviews for his work in turning Samp from a mid-table outfit into a side playing attractive football and competing for a European place, while the likes of Lucas Torreira and Dennis Praet have been linked with moves away.

Torreira: ‘My life has changed’

Sampdoria midfielder Lucas Torreira says his life has changed after scoring twice in the 4-1 win over Chievo.

The 21-year-old, who is rumoured to be being watched by Spanish side Atletico Madrid, netted a brace this afternoon and hails a change in position during his time at Pescara as having been criticial for his development.

“I have been looking for that goal for a long time,” Uruguayan Torreira said post-match.

“I am really happy, just as much for having given joy to the supporters.

Atleti rejected for Torreira?

Sampdoria reportedly rejected an approach from Atletico Madrid, who wanted to take Lucas Torreira in January.

The 21-year-old is seen as one of the most promising midfielders in Serie A, with an average of three tackles and two interceptions so far this season.

According to Tuttosport, the Spanish side wanted to sign the Uruguayan in January, but were told in no uncertain terms that no deal is possible until next summer.
