Renzi: ‘Not like Conte’

Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi paid a visit to the Italy camp, but laughs off comparisons to Antonio Conte.

The Azzurri have already sealed their place in Euro 2016 in France next summer, and received a special visitor at Coverciano this morning.

“It would be doubly satisfying to do well in France, even if you shouldn’t say such things,” Renzi told reporters.

“Do I see myself in Conte? You must be joking…

‘Jorginho wants Italy call’

Jorginho’s agent reiterates that the Napoli midfielder wants a call-up to Antonio Conte’s Italy squad.

Though the 23-year-old was born in Brazil, he grew up in Italy, and his representative has already made it clear he wants to represent the Azzurri.

“He wants to play at Euro 2016 in the Italy shirt,” Joao Santos confirmed in an interview with Tuttomercatoweb.

Conte: ‘Renewal? Never say never…’

Italy CT Antonio Conte opens up to the possibility of renewing his contract - “never say never.”

The Azzurri boss has repeatedly refused to commit to remaining in his role, with his current deal expiring at the end of the European Championships in the summer.

“Since I started Coaching, I’ve always envied the boss of the Italian national team,” Conte revealed in an interview with RAI.

Montolivo: ‘Thank you Conte’

Riccardo Montolivo is set to start for Italy against Norway tonight, and thanks CT Antonio Conte.

The Milan captain has not played for the Azzurri since breaking his leg in a pre-World Cup friendly against Ireland in 2014.

However, with Marco Verratti and Andrea Pirlo injured, the playmaker is set to take over the creative role in the midfield.

“I’m happy and excited,” Montolivo told Premium Sport.

“I thank Conte for the faith that he’s shown in me.”

Conte returns to 3-5-2?

Antonio Conte is juggling the 3-5-2 and the 4-4-2 formations for tonight's Italy-Norway game.

The Coach faces a substantial amount of injuries and defections as it is confirmed that Lazio's Marco Parolo will not play, along with the two star midfielders Marco Verratti and Andrea Pirlo.

The media are split with regards to the possible formations, with today's edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport pointing to a likely return to Conte's old Juventus formation, the 3-5-2.

Italy Under-21 Coach Luigi Di Biagio hints he could replace Antonio Conte - “I’m at the disposal of the federation.”

It’s not clear whether the former Juventus boss will continue in his role as CT of the senior Azzurri team after Euro 2016, and the Azzurrini Coach isn’t ruling anything out.

Conte: ‘Pirlo won’t play’

Italy CT Antonio Conte confirms Andrea Pirlo “won’t make the game” against Norway tomorrow.

The New York City FC midfielder picked up a hip injury during training last week, and missed the qualifier with Azerbaijan.

“Pirlo trained today, even if it wasn’t with the group,” Conte told Sky.

“He’s already started doing changes of direction, the problem is that it would be too big a risk and he won’t make the game.

Chiellini: ‘Always with Conte’

Giorgio Chiellini says he “always” wants to have Italy CT Antonio Conte by his side.

The defender worked with the Coach at Juventus, and now with the national team, and praised the Azzurri boss ahead of the Norway game.

“I hope to always have the boss by my side,” Chiellini said in the pre-match Press conference.

“Maybe I don’t have a lot of playing still to do [at 31], but for at least the next three years, as long as I’m playing, I hope to always have him with me.”
