Sacchi: 'My Milan would've won anyway'

Arrigo Sacchi has refuted Adriano Galliani’s claims that Milan would not have won Champions Leagues with Financial Fair Play rules in place.

Former Milan CEO Galliani said last week that FFP would have made it impossible for Milan to spend the way they did during Silvio Berlusconi’s reign in the 1980s and 1990s.

Galliani makes Milan revelation

Former Milan CEO Adriano Galliani has claimed that if Financial Fair Play was around in 1986, the club would not have won five Champions Leagues.

Silvio Berlusconi bought Milan in February 1986 and bankrolled its rise from bankruptcy to world dominance, but problems with FFP - which continue to this day - forced the media magnate to sell up two years ago.

“When I see the European Cup, the many beautiful years we had, five victories and eight Finals and come to mind,” Galliani told Sky Sport Italia.

Redondo: 'Milan injury nightmare'

Fernando Redondo revealed some surprising details about his ill-fated Milan spell, disagreements with their doctors and training staff.

The Argentina international is now 49 years old and was on Milan’s books from 2000 to 2004, but only ever made 33 competitive appearances for the club due to an injury nightmare that kept him off the field for two-and-a-half-years.

“I had done pre-season training with Real Madrid, then transferred to Milan and everything was different,” the former midfielder told La Nacion newspaper.

Galliani: Milan are back!

Adriano Galliani is delighted Milan ‘belong to the Milanese again’ and proclaims they and Inter ‘are back in front of the Romans’.

Roma’s 3-0 derby defeat to Lazio at the weekend cut the two sides further adrift of Inter and Milan in Serie A’s top four.

“Gattuso? For me he’s been a truly great surprise,” Galliani told Radio Anch’io Sport.

“His character made me think that he hardly could’ve been a Coach, but instead he’s been amazing.

Galliani: 'Milan now with Milanisti'

Former Milan CEO Adriano Galliani maintains the club has “come back into the hands of Milanisti,” which was not the case under Yonghong Li.

Silvio Berlusconi controlled the club for 31 years with Galliani as his right-hand man, but sold it to Chinese investor Yonghong Li in April 2017.

When he defaulted on a loan used to buy the club, it was essentially repossessed by US hedge fund Elliott Management.

Galliani: 'Dream for Piatek & Paqueta...'

Adriano Galliani believes Krzysztof Piatek and Lucas Paqueta "can become the new Andriy Shevchenko and Kaka" for Milan.

The pair arrived in the January transfer window and have wasted little time in making a positive impression for the Rossoneri.

Piatek has scored four goals in four games, while Paqueta got off the mark in the win over Cagliari at the weekend.

Galliani has praised the new signings and hopes they can emulate what the two former stars achieved at the club.

Silvio Berlusconi and Galliani took over Monza in the summer, and it has been suggested that the veteran could restart his career there.

“This squad was built by the previous owners, Berlusconi’s Monza starts from January,” Galliani told Monza News.
