Berlusconi hires Galliani again

Former Milan CEO Adriano Galliani has formally been appointed the new President of television company Mediaset Premium.

Galliani was at Milan since Silvio Berlusconi bought the club on the verge of bankruptcy in February 1986 and left when the side was sold to Yonghong Li.

Although Galliani was linked with a takeover at Genoa and proposed as the new Lega Serie A President, he said he would no longer work in football.

Appreciating Jorginho

Though incredibly skilled and creative, Napoli’s Jorginho remains an under-appreciated commodity in Italy, argues Matthew Santangelo.

Roma’s Radja Nainggolan and Napoli’s Marek Hamsik are among the many gifted central midfielders that come to mind in Serie A. Needing no introduction, the two shoulder leadership responsibilities while also impacting their unit from the moment they step on to the pitch. However, for other class-A players like Jorginho, it takes a bit more mindfulness of his talent to grasp what a superbly gifted playmaker he truly is.

‘Galliani would’ve had Ibra already’

Mino Raiola has aimed another dig at Milan’s board, claiming that Zlatan Ibrahimovic would “already be” back if Adriano Galliani was still at the club.

Raiola’s relationship with Milan has broken over Gianluigi Donnarumma’s refusal to sign a new contract with the club, and the agent suggested the Rossoneri’s new directors were incapable of negotiating a deal for a player of Ibra’s stature.

“Ibra’s fine, he’s received so many offers, from the US and beyond,” he told Gazzetta dello Sport.

Done with Donnarumma

Gianluigi Donnarumma is walking out on his supposedly beloved Milan and it’s too easy to blame Mino Raiola, writes Susy Campanale.

Just weeks after we all wept at the sheer beauty of Francesco Totti ending a lifetime in the Roma jersey, we are faced with a stark reminder of how hard people in this sport can be. Gianluigi Donnarumma has turned down a new contract with Milan.

Galliani: Gigio talk is madness!

Former Milan Vice-President Adriano Galliani insists any notion of him helping Real Madrid sign Gianluigi Donnarumma is “madness”.

Speculation emerged on Tuesday that Donnarumma’s agent Mino Raiola and Madrid President Florentino Perez had met via Galliani three weeks ago, but the ex-Milan supremo made it clear he would never act against the Rossoneri’s interests.

Milan can dare to dream

The last couple of weeks have made Milan fans like Susy Campanale almost afraid to feel optimistic again. Is it safe to hope?

Milanisti were not always pessimistic by nature. Those old of us to remember a club that was on the brink of bankruptcy had within a few years of Silvio Berlusconi’s reign become the dominant force in world football, to this day arguably the greatest team there has ever been in the sport. We also learned from watching neighbours Inter that the influx of Chinese cash doesn’t necessarily promise success.

Remembering Redondo

When Milan signed Fernando Redondo in 2000 they got one of the best midfielders in the world, but his time in Italy proved to be frustrating.

After completing a 25 billion lire [around £11m] move from Real Madrid, the Argentine was expected to lead the Rossoneri to European glory.

Things didn’t quite go as planned though, and on his 48th birthday Football Italia looks back at his difficult time at San Siro.

Galliani denies Genoa rumours

Former Milan CEO Adriano Galliani has denied reports he’s ready to buy Genoa with ex-Leeds United and Cagliari President Massimo Cellino.

Current Genoa patron Enrico Preziosi said he is prepared to listen to offers and sell the club following fan protests and a season in which they barely escaped relegation.

Cellino has been linked as a potential buyer, albeit with help from Galliani.

“My 31 years at Milan prevent me from accepting any job with any other club,” Galliani told news agency Ansa today.

Cellino & Galliani to buy Genoa?

Reports suggest that former Leeds United owner Massimo Cellino could purchase Genoa from Enrico Preziosi.

According to local reports in L’Unione Sarda.it, the Italian entrepreneur is considering an attempt to secure the club along with former Milan CEO Adriano Galliani.

The Grifone only secured safety in the Italian top flight last weekend with one game remaining, with their current owner having stated he will listen to offers.
