'Roma will feel De Rossi exit'

Aleksandar Kolarov admits Roma will only realise what Daniele De Rossi meant for them once he leaves the club.

Roma and De Rossi will sever ties at the end of the season, despite the midfielder’s one-club status, and Kolarov confessed his departure would leave a void at Roma.

“I consider him a brother,” the 33-year-old told DAZN.

“The first game I played for Roma was in Bergamo, against Atalanta. Captains tend to speak before certain games, but he does before every game.

Roma: Kolarov out of SPAL

Roma must do without Aleksandar Kolarov against Serie A rivals SPAL on Saturday, but Nicolo Zaniolo makes the cut.

Zaniolo has recovered from a calf injury in time for the game, but Kolarov has a thigh problem.

Daniele De Rossi, Lorenzo Pellegrini, Kostas Manolas and Cengiz Under also remain sidelined, although Edin Dzeko and Federico Fazio are back from suspension.

To make up for his lack of numbers, Claudio Ranieri has called up defender Riccardo Cargnelutti, midfielder Alessio Ricciardi and forward Zan Celar from Roma’s Primavera squad.

Monchi magic or mediocrity?

As Monchi looks prepared to leave Roma for Arsenal, Jay Cassano asks whether the sporting director’s time in the Eternal City has been successful.

Ramón Rodríguez Verdejo, Roma's sporting director, the man better known as Monchi, looks all but certain to trade capitals this summer, leaving Roma for the likes of Arsenal. Few sporting directors receive as much attention or scrutiny as Monchi, so it bears asking: Has his brief stint in Rome been successful?

Roma's Kolarov sets record

Roma left-back Aleksandar Kolarov is now the highest-scoring defender in Europe’s top five Leagues after taking his goal tally to eight.

Kolarov’s penalty not only helped Roma beat Bologna 2-1 on Monday but also saw him top the scoring charts for defenders in Serie A, the Premier League, La Liga, Ligue 1 and the Bundesliga.

Seven of the Serb’s goals have come in the League, with the other coming during a 7-1 defeat to Fiorentina in the Coppa Italia.

Roma ultras attack Kolarov again

The row between Roma ultras and Aleksandar Kolarov has clearly not been resolved, as there was an insulting banner as well as chants this evening.

The banner was visible in the Curva Sud during the Champions League Round of 16 fixture against FC Porto.

This all started on the way to the 7-1 Coppa Italia defeat to Fiorentina, as the team was heckled at the train station by fans and Kolarov reacted with an insult of his own.

Delvecchio: ‘Dzeko, what took you?’

Former Roma striker Marco Delvecchio concedes he thought Edin Dzeko would reach his goal tally sooner, and hopes Aleksandar Kolarov’s bow was a “gesture of apology”.

After scoring in the 3-0 win over Chievo on Friday night, Dzeko moved to 83 goals scored for the Giallorossi.

That puts the Bosnian international level with Delvecchio in eighth place in Roma’s list of all-time top goalscorers.
