EDF: 'Marseille talks for Strootman'

Eusebio Di Francesco confirmed “negotiations are in progress” between Roma and Olympique Marseille for Kevin Strootman.

There are multiple reports today that the Ligue 1 club made an offer of €23m, but Monchi demanded at least €25m plus bonuses.

“There are these negotiations in progress and the various parties are evaluating it,” confirmed the Coach in his Press conference.

Confusion over Strootman status

There are differing reports in Italy and France over the status of Olympique Marseille’s negotiations with Roma for Kevin Strootman.

While Il Romanista claims the offer of €25m plus €4m in bonuses has been accepted by both player and club, other sources have different versions of events.

Report: Strootman accepts Marseille

Kevin Strootman and Roma have reportedly accepted an offer from Olympique Marseille worth €25m plus €4m in bonuses.

According to Il Romanista, the proposal has convinced both player and club.

Ex-Giallorossi Coach Rudi Garcia openly urged the midfielder to work with him again in France.

It’s claimed Roma left the decision up to Strootman, who accepted the switch with a considerable salary increase from €3m per year to €4.5m.

Strootman considering Marseille

Roma and Kevin Strootman are giving serious consideration to a €25m offer from Rudi Garcia’s Olympique Marseille.

Ex-Giallorossi Coach Garcia made his intentions crystal clear in a Press conference, stating: “We could really do with someone like Strootman.”

According to the Corriere dello Sport newspaper, they are open to the idea of selling the Dutch international after the €25m proposal arrived.

Video: Balotelli breaks silence

Mario Balotelli has finally broken his silence after a summer of confusion. “It was my choice to stay with Nice. Patrick Vieira changed 80 per cent of my decision.”

The striker refused to attend pre-season training and went for a medical to Olympique Marseille, but the two clubs couldn’t agree terms.

Torino consider Niang offers

M’Baye Niang is still on the market for Torino, with interest from Leganes, Real Betis and Lokomotiv Moscow.

With Simone Zaza and Roberto Soriano arriving on transfer deadline day, Niang is no longer needed.

The 23-year-old forward is under contract until June 2021, having arrived from Milan last summer for €14m.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Betis and Leganes have asked for Niang, but are only prepared to take him on loan with option to buy.

Nice: 'Balotelli wants to stay'

“Mario Balotelli expressed his wish to stay at Nice,” said club President Jean-Pierre Rivere after an Olympique Marseille bid failed.

The striker had been expected to leave this summer and even had a medical with Marseille, refusing to attend pre-season training with Nice.

Last night, Les Aiglons put an end to the negotiations and it seems Balotelli has accepted it.

‘Marseille wouldn’t pay Balotelli fee’

Nice President Jean-Pierre Rivère explains Marseille wouldn’t pay €5m for Mario Balotelli, offering only Remy Cabella in exchange.

The Italian international was keen to make the move to the Stade Velodrome, but it was announced last night that he’d be staying with Les Aiglons.

“It’s very simple,” Rivère explained to L’Équipe.

Nice: ‘Balotelli is staying’

Nice have announced that Italian international Mario Balotelli will stay, aiming a swipe at Marseille in the process.

The striker didn’t turn up for the start of pre-season training, though he later did join the squad, with agent Mino Raiola working on a move to l’OM.

Today the Aiglons President said the situation was “complicated”, but tonight it has been announced that Super Mario is staying.

“The decision is made, Mario Balotelli has decided to stay at OGC Nice,” the club announced on Twitter.
