Fonseca: 'Roma keep three-man defence'

Paulo Fonseca confirms the three-man defence is the plan going forward for Roma after their 2-1 defeat to Napoli. ‘I saw improvements and we have to find stability.’

This was their third consecutive loss, in which the Giallorossi scored one goal and conceded six, allowing Napoli to catch them in fifth place.

Roma President Jim Pallotta has publicly hit out at reports coach Paulo Fonseca will be fired. ‘His future is not in doubt. He has my full support.’

Rumours emerged after the 2-0 home defeat to Udinese that Fonseca was up for discussion, even with suggestions Luciano Spalletti could return for a third stint at the Stadio Olimpico.

Pallotta took the rare step this afternoon of publicly denouncing the reports in the newspapers, taking to Twitter in order to make a statement.

Former coach Fabio Capello has advised Roma tactician Paulo Fonseca to not listen to Roman radio stations.

After back-to-back defeats to Milan and Udinese, the fans have voiced their concern and Capello has claimed the coach and his players must avoid being influenced by the local Radio stations.
