Manolas: 'Ref was shameful'

Kostas Manolas said the referee’s behaviour was “shameful” by not even looking at the Roma penalty appeal against Porto.

The Giallorossi were 3-1 down on the night, 4-3 down on aggregate, after VAR was used to award a penalty to the hosts for a shirt tug.

Moments later, Patrik Schick seemed to be tripped from behind by Moussa Marega, but referee Cuneyt Cakir didn’t even view the footage back.

Sousa skips Porto-Roma for Bordeaux

Paulo Sousa will reportedly no longer be in the stands for Roma’s Champions League match with Porto, as he is ready to sign for Bordeaux.

The Portuguese tactician was expected to attend at the Estadio Do Dragao, a somewhat incongruous presence considering he has been linked with the Roma job.

However, Tuttomercatoweb suggest this evening that Sousa has pulled out of attending the Champions League Round of 16 tie.

Roma 12 years without a clean sheet

The second leg in the Round of 16 with Porto kicks off at the Estadio Do Dragao at 20.00 GMT.

Eusebio Di Francesco’s men have a 2-1 first leg lead to protect, but their history in the competition does not bode well.

That’s because the Giallorossi have lost each of their last seven away games in Champions League knockout rounds.
