Hector Herrera has his heart set on joining Inter as a free agent next season, according to Sportitalia, despite English and Spanish offers.

The Mexico international midfielder will be out of contract in June after six years at Porto.

Premier League push for Herrera

Roma and Inter face strong competition from Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur in the race for FC Porto midfielder Hector Herrera.

A bidding war is breaking out after he failed to agree a new contract with the Portuguese club, but a January sale seems unlikely.

Nonetheless, RAI Sport claim that Premier League outfits Arsenal and Spurs have already dived in with big offers both to Porto and for the Mexico international’s salary.

Inter defender Joao Miranda is a January transfer target for FC Porto, according to Brazilian site UOL Esporte.

The 34-year-old centre-back has fallen down the pecking order with the arrival of Stefan de Vrij and Milan Skriniar.

Roma plan Herrera swoop

Roma are preparing a cut-price €15m January approach for FC Porto captain Hector Herrera.

According to the Corriere dello Sport, they view the 28-year-old Mexico international as an ideal replacement for Kevin Strootman.

Fans were furious when Strootman was sold to Olympique Marseille in late August, as there was no chance to bring in a new face.

Herrera has a release clause set at €40m, which has put Roma off before, but his contract is due to expire in June 2019.

Daniele Verde is in negotiations with FC Porto, confirmed his agent, but the €6m Roma asking price is making it “complicated.”

He had loan spells at Frosinone, Pescara, Avellino and most recently Hellas Verona.

According to Portuguese paper O Jogo, Porto are unsure about the €6m requested by Roma.

“I am in Oporto, but I cannot say any more than that,” confessed agent Luigi Lauro.
