VIDEO: Ribery shoves assistant ref

Franck Ribery could be in serious trouble, as the Fiorentina star was caught on camera shoving one of the officials after a defeat to Lazio.

The veteran had already been irritable after he was substituted during the 2-1 home loss.

After the final whistle and a controversial Lazio winner scored by Ciro Immobile, the Fiorentina players continued to argue with the referee and his assistants.

Montella: 'Why not at least check VAR?'

Fiorentina coach Vincenzo Montella was furious at the referee for not checking VAR on the winning Lazio goal. “That’s what it’s there for.”

The Viola were beaten 2-1 by a late Ciro Immobile header, but the issue was Jordan Lukaku winning back the ball from Riccardo Sottil – seemingly with a foul – to then provide the assist.

Pioli relives Roma nightmares

New Milan coach Stefano Pioli returns to the Olimpico on Sunday, but Vijay Rahaman notes the former Lazio boss has some bad memories of Roma.

Stefano Pioli takes his Milan team to the Stadio Olimpico to face Roma, but his record against the Giallorossi is one that may be of concern.

Overall, the Parma-born coach has a record of just three wins, seven draws and 11 losses versus I Lupi. The situation was even more disconcerting when involved in the Rome Derby, as in charge of Lazio Pioli managed one draw and three defeats. The 54-year-old made his debut on the Milan bench with a disappointing 2-2 draw against Lecce, another team clad in yellow and red, so it seems these colours are like Kryptonite for Pioli.

“The objective is for Fiorentina to play in their new stadium in September 2023.
