Capello says thanks and goodbye

Fabio Capello has issued a short statement after he resigned as England boss on Wednesday evening.

“I would like to thank all players, staff and Football Association for the professionalism they have shown during my years as manager of the English National Team,” he said.

Capello wins backing of assistant

Italo Galbiati, Fabio Capello’s assistant, has backed the Italian tactician over his decision to quit the England national side.

What a shame we won’t be seeing the three Italian tenors belting it out at the Euro 2012 Finals this summer. Fabio Capello’s angry resignation as England boss means it’s left to wily old fox Giovanni Trapattoni and his apprentice, Cesare Prandelli, to go head-to-head in Poland and Ukraine.

Capello resigns as England manager

Italian tactician Fabio Capello has officially resigned as England manager over comments he made to RAI television about John Terry.

The former Milan, Roma, Real Madrid and Juventus Coach was called in after he told Italian television over the weekend that he disagreed with the decision to take the captain’s armband off Terry pending the verdict in his trial for racism charges.

Capello: ‘We cannot poach talent’

Fabio Capello has hit out at youth policies in both England and Italy and called for an end to the ‘stealing of talent’ from other countries.

The Italian’s strong views on the subject were revealed in comments made at the Dubai International Sports Conference this week, which as the Press Association report, he is attending as a guest and without accompaniment from any member of the English Football Association.
