Verona President Setti has COVID

Hellas Verona President Maurizio Setti has tested positive for COVID-19 and has some symptoms, announced the club.

Verona are due to face Milan on Sunday at 19.45 GMT.

A statement released by the Serie A club confirmed Setti had tested positive for Coronavirus on Friday.

He has ‘some light symptoms’ and is already self-isolating in his home.

Meanwhile, Torino President Urbano Cairo returned home yesterday after several days in hospital with COVID-19 symptoms.

Centralised COVID testing for Serie A

It’s reported the Lega Serie A will create a centralised system for all COVID-19 tests, after reports Edin Dzeko and Ciro Immobile swab results are identical, yet one might be allowed to play.

The chaos erupted after Lazio had three players test positive in a Rome laboratory, yet they were given the all-clear by a lab in Avellino.

Real Madrid: Hazard and Casemiro have COVID

Real Madrid announce that Eden Hazard and Casemiro have also now tested positive for COVID-19, just days after their Champions League match with Inter.

The Merengues won 3-2 on Tuesday evening and they will cross paths with Inter again on November 25 at San Siro.

Eder Militao had already missed that match due to his COVID-19 status.

This morning, a statement released by Real Madrid confirmed Hazard and Casemiro had also tested positive.

Lotito: 'What even is COVID positive?'

Lazio President Claudio Lotito gave a typically outlandish interview defending their interpretation of COVID-19 tests. ‘Bacteria doesn’t mean infectious.’

The controversy erupted when some of Lazio’s players – specifically Ciro Immobile, Lucas Leiva and Thomas Strakosha – tested positive for two consecutive UEFA Champions League games, but negative for the Serie A encounters with both Torino and Juventus.

Italy: Mancini has COVID

The FIGC has announced Italy CT Roberto Mancini has tested positive for coronavirus.

The Azzurri CT is asymptomatic and in isolation at home, after having tested positive for COVID-19.

“As part of the periodic checks carried out by the FIGC for the members of the technical staff of the national teams in view of the upcoming commitments in UEFA competitions, the coach Roberto Mancini tested positive for COVID-19,” the FIGC wrote in a statement.

Fiorentina: Callejon has COVID

Fiorentina have announced Jose Callejon has been quarantined after testing positive for coronavirus.

Another case has been discovered in Serie A, this time it’s the Viola winger, who moved to the Artemio Franchi as a free agent after his contract at Napoli expired during the summer.

The player is asymptomatic and already in isolation as per protocol, the club confirmed in a statement.

“ACF Fiorentina announce that a positive case of coronavirus was found during the preventive tests,” the club wrote.

Luis Alberto free of COVID

Lazio midfielder Luis Alberto should be available for Sunday’s Serie A clash with Juventus after he tested negative for COVID-19.

The Spaniard was one of several players, including Thomas Strakosha and Djavan Anderson, who missed last week’s Serie A match due to the COVID result.

Others, such as Ciro Immobile and Lucas Leiva, are negative on the Serie A tests, but considered positive by UEFA, who have a slightly different testing system.

Luis Alberto posted an image on his Instagram page of a negative COVID-19 test.

Ronaldo gets Portugal recall

Cristiano Ronaldo and Napoli full-back Mario Rui are in the Portugal squad to face France and Croatia in the Nations League.

Report: Lotito and Lazio fight back

Il Corriere dello Sport reports Lazio patron Claudio Lotito prepares to counterattack UEFA with a ‘possible lawsuit’.

The newspaper says the reports delivered to the Federal Prosecutor’s Office and also reported to the health authority in Rome, claim Ciro Immobile, Lucas Leiva and Thomas Strakosha were completely negative ahead of the match against Torino in Serie A.

But the three players were excluded from the trip to Russia yesterday, as UEFA reportedly intervened.
