Dal Pino: 'Football close to catastrophe'

Lega Serie A President Paolo Dal Pino warns ‘football is close to an economic catastrophe’ due to COVID-19 and must consider ‘other options’ such as play-offs if the season cannot conclude.

Serie A COVID protocol simplified

The Italian Football Federation has changed the COVID-19 protocol with more rapid tests and shorter periods of isolation.

It was announced on the official FIGC website that the modifications have been made to facilitate the completion of the season in Serie A, B, C and women’s football.

They will all have access to rapid COVID-19 tests, which give results both 48 hours before games, but can also be done the same day as a match if there are some positive cases in a squad and his teammates need the all-clear.

Donnarumma and Hauge COVID negative

Milan announced that Gianluigi Donnarumma, Jens Petter Hauge and Matteo Gabbia are available again after testing negative for COVID-19.

The goalkeeper and striker had tested positive on Monday, ruling them out of the 3-3 Serie A draw with Roma and 3-0 Europa League victory over Sparta Prague.

Sassuolo have announced three new cases of COVID-19 in the team group and confirmed one player has tested positive.

The Neroverdi confirmed Lukas Haraslin had tested positive for coronavirus on Tuesday and the latest swab test has revealed three new cases.

“US Sassuolo Calcio announce that from the swabs carried out, three new cases of COVID-19 have been found in the first team,” the statement read.

“One player and two staff members.”

Genoa finally free of COVID-19

Genoa are now free of Coronavirus after the last of the 17 players who contracted COVID-19 finally tested negative.

There had been 22 cases in total at the club, including five members of staff, starting with goalkeeper Mattia Perin the day before their 6-0 defeat to Napoli.

Since that original test on September 26, another 16 players tested positive, but they have now finally all been given the all-clear.
