Verona midfielder Barak has COVID

Hellas Verona announce that midfielder Antonin Barak has tested positive for COVID-19 while on international duty with the Czech Republic.

A statement confirms the player is ‘totally asymptomatic’ and is following the medical protocol.

Barak is the latest Serie A player to test positive for Coronavirus.

He played 90 minutes in the 2-1 friendly win over Cyprus on Wednesday October 7.

Preziosi: 'Genoa risk Serie B with COVID outbreak'

Genoa President Enrico Preziosi warns his club ‘risks losing many games by default and relegation to Serie B’ if the COVID-19 outbreak doesn’t ease its grip soon.

They have been the Serie A club by far worst affected by the virus, with 17 players and five members of staff testing positive.

“I still have 15 players who are positive, none of them have moved on to a negative status, and almost all of them are first choice picks,” Preziosi told the Corriere dello Sport.

Serie C: Cerci joins Arezzo

Arezzo have officially announced the arrival of free agent Alessio Cerci.

The former Roma, Atalanta, Fiorentina, Torino, Genoa and Hellas Verona player has been without a club since leaving Salernitana on September 1 this year.

Arezzo have announced his arrival in Serie C, as the 33-year-old returned to Italy after a spell at Ankaragucu in August 2019.

“There’s a cherry: a player who has decided to marry our project,” Arezzo sporting director Di Bari said at a press conference.

Verona confirm Cetin injury

Hellas Verona defender Mert Cetin has suffered a mio-tendinal lesion in his left thigh.

A statement from the club confirmed the diagnosis had found a Grade I lesion.

There is no current figure given for his recovery time, as that will depend on the progress of his recovery.

The Turkey international arrived over the summer from Roma at a cost of €11m.

He has played in all three of Verona’s Serie A games so far this season.

Kalinic: 'Juric called me to Verona'

Nikola Kalinic reveals how Hellas Verona coach Ivan Juric convinced him to join the club and insists he was ‘not bad’ last season at Roma.

He has experience of several Serie A sides now, at Fiorentina, Milan, Roma and now Verona, where he made the transfer from Atletico Madrid on deadline day.

“It was a very easy decision, as I am here to play,” said Kalinic in his press conference.

Report: Serie A discuss potential Plan B

Serie A has reportedly started discussing the hypotheses of a play-offs and a Final Eight, should the League risk having to finish with a different format.

Football has been trying to avoid concluding the championships through play-offs and the hope of concluding Serie A with the traditional formula is still the priority.

But Il Corriere dello Sport reveals the FIGC has started working on different hypotheses in case of an emergency, highlighted by Minister of Sport Vincenzo Spadafora in an interview with Corriere della Sera yesterday.

Spadafora: 'Current format too optimistic?'

The Minister of Sport Vincenzo Spadafora has claimed the ‘protocols are clear’ and stressed ‘we are working hard’ to avoid another stop in Serie A.

As Juventus waited for Napoli knowing the Partenopei wouldn’t turn up, the protocols and laws are being tested to the limit.
