Journalist Alessandro Alciato revealed he was ‘pressured’ not to release the recent tell-all interview given by Milan legend Paolo Maldini.

On Thursday, the former Rossoneri defender spoke openly about a long list of topics to Alciato – who ghostwrote Carlo Ancelotti’s autobiography ‘Preferisco la Coppa’ – which included his time as a director, his thoughts on the work of rivals Inter and his memories of Silvio Berlusconi.

Milan fans were infuriated when the club’s owners Gerry Cardinale and RedBird decided to sack Maldini from his post as technical director last year and his honest interview added further insight to the situation, reigniting frustrations amongst supporters.

Maldini interview pressure

On his Instagram story, Alciato revealed that some unnamed parties had attempted to convince him not to broadcast the interview with Maldini on Radio Serie A, the official radio station of the league.

He wrote: “I didn’t like the pressure not to broadcast it. Not at all.”

The former Milan director has kept his distance from his old club and Serie A since his dismissal last year, revealing that he doesn’t even attend matches at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza anymore.
